Wishing isn’t a strategy. I know because I ran on it for the better part of a year — wishing I felt motivated, wishing the same routine would eventually click, wishing my way through a whole season where nothing actually changed.

One hike did more in a single morning than a year of wishing ever did.

So here’s the real question: when’s the last time you actually changed something, instead of just wishing it felt different?

Let’s just say it plain: is your laziness keeping you bound?
Not “you’re busy.” Not “you don’t have time.” Laziness. The word we avoid because it feels harsh, but sometimes it’s just accurate.

So ask yourself straight, no cushioning it: why would you expect a different result when you haven’t changed a single thing about what you’re actually doing?

Gratitude isn’t pretending everything’s fine.

It’s looking at a week that’s stacked against you — the tired, the behind, the “are you kidding me right now” — and still finding the one thing that’s holding.

You don’t have to feel grateful to choose grateful. Some days it’s a decision before it’s a feeling.

So here’s mine for today: it could be worse, and it isn’t. That counts.

Let me be clear: I'm not saying life gets easy just because you start praying differently.

Hard seasons are still coming — that's just life. But I'm training myself to always ask God to expose what isn't of Him, so I never assume I've got it all figured out.

The goal isn't a problem-free life. It's being spiritually built for the seasons that aren't.

We pray for more all the time. We rarely pray to be able to hold it.

But what's the point of the bigger thing if you're already maxed out, overwhelmed, stretched thin? So I stopped asking only for the blessing.

Now I ask for the capacity to actually carry it.

I got this tattoo almost 8 years ago — before I was going to church, before I was praying, before I was reading the Word at all.

It's Proverbs 3:5–6. I literally Googled the scripture, liked how it sounded, and got it put on my ankle.

A few months ago, in the shower, it hit me: God left the instructions on me years before I was ready to actually read them. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."

This has quietly become my prayer lately: "Expose anything in me that can't go to my next season."

Not the flashy prayer. Not "give me more." Just — show me what's hiding. The pride. The selfishness. The stuff I don't like to look at.

Because I don't want to drag what's not of God into what He's preparing for me.

For the longest time, my prayers only ever sounded like "God, fix my situation."

Fix the circumstances. Fix the timing. Fix the people around me. But I rarely prayed the harder one: "God, fix me."

It's easy to ask Him to move the mountain. It's harder to ask Him to show you the thing in you that keeps building them.

Busy is not the same as building. And I had to learn that the HARDDDD way.

I was doing all these things — checking boxes, staying occupied, moving fast — and somehow still ending up in the same place every year. Turns out, motion isn’t momentum😂😂. Excuses dressed up in activity are still excuses.

At some point you have to stop and ask yourself: what am I actually building? Because time is moving whether you are or not.

A poverty mindset isn’t just about money. It’s the way we speak over our own lives like nothing good can happen for us.

“I’m trying.” “I can’t.” “Not possible”

Sometimes we’re living under words God never said about us — words family, friends, or coworkers spoke over us — and we accepted them like they were facts.

And it’s hard to walk into change when your default setting is complaint. How can you expect God to move when “nothing is working” is your whole script?

Gratitude isn’t a vibe. It’s a starting line.
