Fun day racing the Aberdeen Half Marathon for the granite city's return to hosting road races.

No real goals going into this one, just good old racing for the win and ignoring the time. In turn, the racing went well, so paired up nicely with a good time on the clock.

Shout out to @outandbackstore 's cheer zone for the shouts. Got a bit excited with a premature surge at 10 miles.

Pursuit 5000 13:56

Sub 14 5K ticked off the bucket list. Incredible buzz to finally achieve such a big target that I've been working towards for a hot minute.

1 second off the road pb and a small step in the right direction. Frustratingly felt strong through 3k and my effort to push on found me running solo until the finish. Quite possibly the hardest 5 circles I have ever ran.

As usual the support from @interval_running_ , @nikerunning, @maurten_official and @rosscairnsperformancecoaching is paramount to making progress. Very much appreciated.

Big day out for CAAC at the English national 12 stage relay.

A lot of fun starting leg 2 in 36th and finishing in 10th. The team were strong throughout and we held on to 15th in the end. by @angus.smith3

Back in the sneck for the Half

Planned to give this a good go, but the knee had other ideas. I would not recommend my build to this for anyone, called it couch to half in a week.

That being said, it was a great day out seeing lots of folk and running the old training routes. Ended up feeling better than anticipated and worked the pace down while feeling pretty comfy. by @angus.smith3

End of season reflection

First off excited to officially announce my place on the @interval_running_ athlete platform supported by @nikerunning and @maurten_official. Taking on a bit of a player manager role here.

My biggest focus this season was u23 euro trials at Liverpool. This is one I had been thinking about all year and thought I realistically could be in shape for top 10, then if luck was on my side I'd make the team (4 auto and 6 total). This pretty much went exactly to plan as I finished 10th.

I didn't have any other specific targets for the season so just carried that form on and ended up with a 10K pb of 29:29 then a 4th place at Inter Districts which was a bit unexpected. That performance led to my first senior Scotland vest.

To finish off the season, I was hoping to balance strength and speed to run a fast 5k and perform well at national xc. I would say this worked to an extent, a pb at Armagh of 14:09, but then didn't make the start line of Falkirk.

I am currently nursing a knee injury but still looking forward to a summer season and the quest to break 14 minutes in the 5k.

Senior Scotland Debut 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A rather tough outing at Parliment Hill for 14th on the day. Overall happy with the run, but would've liked to have an impact on the team score, a mental battle on lap 3 of 5 then pulled it together for the last 2.

Shout out to Harris, who stormed round the course for 1st u23 and 7th overall.

4th at Scottish Inter Districts

Great to be back in the mighty red of Scotland North after missing East District champs. Getting a red vest up in the top end of the race drives a bit more passion to run hard.

I was chuffed with the way I ran that race, feeling I paced a cross race well for once. Although crossed the line pretty gutted to have missed out on the podium.

Starting off the year as I mean to go on, busy running a shop and many miles. 108K so far.

Also dropping the ego and posting more consistently to get more eyes on myself and our wee shop. Seems this is the game these days.

Anyway some proper running chat if you're interested. Inter District XC this weekend with the rest of January focused on building to some big races in Feburary and March. by @angus.smith3

5th at Hogmanhoway 5K to close out 2025.

It feels like this year I have stepped up a level in this sport with my first 2 u23 Scotland selections over the cross, a senior Scottish title and PBs in 1500m, 3000m, 5k, 10K as well as a half marathon debut.

Looking forward to making more steps in 2026 along with an exciting project with the @interval_running_ athlete platform. by @angus.smith3
