Growing up, we all learned about the “bad guys.” At first, it was fairy tales: evil queens trying to steal kingdoms, a wicked witch standing in the way of happily-ever-after, or a villain working to destroy the hero. Later it became ‘stranger danger’ stories about white vans and candy, warnings meant to keep us safe. It all felt so distant, so pretend.

But somewhere along the way, the bad guys became real. History, long ago and present, is marked by evil. I learned that people sometimes hurt others out of anger, fear, or hate. Evil spreads when it consumes hearts, and it shows up in places we’d never expect. It comes in the form of violence, words, apathy, hate.

As a kid, this realization was scary, and this fear could have consumed and controlled me. But I knew there was Someone stronger than my fear, who could overcome it all.

I turned to my scriptures with a prayer in my heart, but not a clue where to start. So, I found myself doing what I know y’all have done before… and let the scriptures fall open to a random page.

“I fear not what man can do; for perfect love casteth out all fear.” (Moroni 8:16)

The truth is, there will always be evil in the world. Agency gives us the choice between light and darkness, and sometimes we end up feeling the weight of others’ decisions. That reality can feel overwhelming, even hopeless at times.

But no matter how dark the world seems, God’s love is brighter. His love is great, steady, and endless. His love is perfect.

Fear doesn’t get the final say.

His love is what I choose to hold onto.

“Here Am I”

They spoke words the world could not bear. Words of justice, truth, hope. Words that ignited the hearts of generations. Words of the gospel, of service and love.

With courage from God, they stood against the lies of the Prince of Darkness. They declared that Christ is Lord. His gospel brings freedom. His light overcomes every shadow. All are created equal, made in the image of God, and worthy of love. They fought against the darkness and evil that seek to consume the hearts of men. They stood for Truth.

The Cross. The bullet. The sword. Evil tries to silence the righteous—but Heaven welcomes them. Though bodies may break, truth remains unshaken. A revival is stirring. Christ will not be silenced. Truth will not fall. Pray. Stand. Speak.

Here Am I, Lord.

“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven.”
- Matthew 5:10-12
