Leica ZM11, a study of light play which refers to the dynamic flows of light, shadow, angles and surfaces. This watch captured it really really well, it’s my favourite variant among the other that comes with different dial and case material.

A little bit of tilt will give you a glimpse to “Leica Red”, a Red colour that you usually correlate to when you think about this brand. Finishing plays a big role too, whilst its not aiming for an intricate high-polished surfaces which common in haute horlogerie, Leica decided to push its meticulous engineering and industrial DNA that transforms high-precision instruments into timeless icons.

The man behind the design on this and its sibling ZM12 is no other than Marcus Eilinger, whom transform the watch unmistakably a Leica.

My favourite part beside the dial? Of course its easy interchangable bracelet/straps, its also a hint to the lens lock design that you’ll find on @leica_camera. The dynamic flow on the bracelet also makes the wearing experience very comfortable, i just wish for one thing .. either a half link or micro adjustment updates will make it more perfect.

Just like the previous ZM1, all shots taken with a legendary Leica Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm f/2.8 and of course my forte, the natural harsh light. Can’t wait to see what the new Leica APO-Macro-Elmarit-SL 100mm f/2.8 will bring to my journey! taken in Malaysia by @aninde34

Still in awe .. here are some photos during the Leica Talks sharing session on Leica ZM lineup that I hosted together with @the.horology.club Malaysia chapter members.

With photography we can explore deeper on how we see things, in my case that was the Leica ZM. Especially on ZM1 and ZM11.

Transition from my previous post which focusing on ZM1, I’d like to imply how good is the ZM11 and ZM12. My favourite parts are the light play on its dial, the fluidity of its bracelet (which shares the same designer as with the more popular watch that looks similar to these watches) and most importantly the Leica fonts that is used on their lens and body!

What’s also interesting is that the watchnerds have a sudden interest on photography as well, they weren’t just fiddling with tha watches but so does with various @leica_camera.

I’ll talk more on the ZM11 afterwards, in the meantime please enjoy some of the shots that I took during the events and thanks to @chrono.path on documenting it as well, without him slide number 2 won’t exist. by @aninde34

The first for everything, first time to experience with the brand @leica_watch within its timepiece offerings. The first of its kind as well, the Leica ZM1.

A bold and confident move from @leica_camera on its exploration further within horology world. Bold because it is staying true to its Leica DNA, emphasizing on its precision, well-engineered, and robust feels is the term that I had in mind when I first handled it. If I can tell you in short “this is not about slapping Leica brand randomly onto existing watches.”, they really put a big effort on designing this watch as well as the movement that developed together with Lehmann Präzision. Yes, it’s a totally different approach from other watches that already has its name within this price range, and they decided to go with a very fine and sharp cut coupled with multiple different finish from the usuals (high mirror polished bevelling, etc.).

It was an overall very unique experience, especially as an already Leica user on the photography side, it feels like an extension on your wrist when we put our cameras away.

All photos shown here taken with SL typ601 paired with Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm f/2.8, and additionally with the Macro-R adapter to get to that 1:1 ratio. From this point of view, I get to understand and enjoy the detail of the watch further, a truly different ones vs. viewing from under the loupe that even has a high magnifications.

Thankful and grateful for this opportunity @leicastoremy @chiloonng, and hopefully more to come! taken in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by @aninde34

A study of light.

The sun is just too good this afternoon, it made me quickly grab my cam and it’s a good time to test out the helicoid adapter along with macro adapters to be coupled with the manual lens too!

Here is how quick a natural light can be, the gap is just 35 second and 1 minute. Definitely not the best shots, but a good point to learn for future references.

Adding an audio of ‘Bob James - Maputo’ that I always enjoy during sunset times, my dad once told me how exactly the scene from the movie was when he experienced it at the theater back then when he was in US during his study. This song stuck with me and a good reminiscing times as we also listened to this song during sunset everytime we drove together. taken in Cyberjaya by @aninde34

How does a watch complication helps you? Timing your work, measure a distance, simply check the time, or beyond current time perhaps? Which exactly this @jaegerlecoultre will do easily.

As beside it tells you the current time where you reside now, it also tells you what time is it on the other part of the earth, in an exact way. On my case, it helped me a lot these past 3 weeks to identify the time for my colleagues back in the headquarter office, in München which shares the same timezone with Paris.

For me this complications is easy to read at a quick glance, as I got a quick info on my current and the second timezone I set onto. It’s a simpler way in my opinion compared to the worldtimer complication that Louis Cottier invented (no, I don’t mind having this type of complication in the future) as well as a GMT ones where you can turn the bezel or refer to the chapter ring which these two takes time as you need to read which city exactly you refer too or take a guess of that city belongs to which timezone. As most of the time when it comes to time for a meeting and I’m in the middle of preparing it, I’ll need a quick glance without over thinking it.

Onto other part, this watch also tells you how much power reserve left on your calibre, a useful one when it’s one of those days that you don’t have lots of movement like behind the desk only. It also have a date which is not really important for me but hey, it helps to balance out the dial layout isn’t it?

Out of all, the details of this watch made me enjoy it more and more. When the light hits, different finishing of the dial and hands, plus also the sunken and stacked sub-dials is just mindblowing! Swipe onto the second photo to see how it looks. Oh, and when you turned it around, the calibre 939A/1 is just mesmerizing to look at, especially that rotor since mine is the transition right before they upgraded to 939Aa, which to my knowledge only been applied for 1-2 years time? Please do share more information if you have it.

All in all, like Stan Getz said, I guess now I got ‘Time on my hands’ then? taken in Cyberjaya by @aninde34

Gave a bit on touch of Red for CNY today, the AT day-date sits well on commander NATO straps.

Personally I think AT deserved to be worn on NATO, don’t be scared that the type of strap will make the wearing experience to be too big for your wrist, it is indeed already a big and thick watch anyway. I somehow love the presence it gave, especially the pattern also accentuate its dial design too.

What’s your take on NATO straps #watchfam?

Also, to those whom celebrate it, Happy Lunar New Year! May you have a wonderful time with your loved ones and wish you good fortune and health. 🧧 taken in Cyberjaya by @aninde34

Past and present.

One is a Seamaster from 1965, the other one is a Speedmaster from 2021, yet it shared a similar technical prowess. For me the 105.005 served for a nostalgic and respecting heritage, whilst the Chronoscope will support my day to day especially during travels with its timezone function.

During the shot I also just realized that I haven’t posted the Chronoscope in its bracelet, which to me one of the best modern bracelet to date yet it has a vintage charm thanks to the extreme tapered to the clasp. And talked about bracelet, I’m contemplating to find the BoR for the 105.005, will it look better or this one should just lived with leather straps?

And most important one, are you team vintage, modern or both to balance? 😉 by @aninde34

2026 1st #NWA!

A well maintained Bulova Phantom B, which refers to this charcoal dial and stainless steel case variant. A watch that is not just a watch but marks a good friendship.

I was eyeing on this watch right after I tried it on last year when we were out for coffee, fell in love with the proportion and all its detail which dated back to late 40s-early 50s. Good thing that Bulova still under the radar so we can totally have fun with vintage like this. 🤞🏼

1 of 6. Yes, only 6 has been made in this configuration, worldwide. Quite close to a piece unique I must say.

This is my third Group B variant and its the boldest configuration ever. The last ‘Night Stage III’ was good enough for me with its gunmetal PVD case and its unique dial configuration finished in light Red, a characteristic that feels under the radar with its colour combo compared to this one.

Long story short, an opportunity to acquire this Verde Smeraldo arise late last year when they cleared up some stocks, and when this got posted I immediately ask Bradley for an allocation and thankfully I got one! As I’ve been eyeing this ‘Verde Smeraldo’, the ‘Aqua’ or ‘Corsica Blue’ ones which of course due to I thought too long I didn’t get any of those.

So, what made this one unique then? It came with a stainless steel mid-case and bracelet, a combo that made me contemplated before on the normal ‘Verde Smeraldo’ which paired with gunmetal finishing case and the ‘Aqua’ / ‘Corsica Blue’ which paired with stainless steel. This one? It’s kinda combo between those three which I’ve been dreamed of. Because just look at it, with its stainless steel finishing for me it has more detail as it highlights a nice bevel around the case and bracelet while the other finishing is brushed and titanium finish. And as much as the gunmetal give better contrast, personally I think this colour works best with the stainless steel instead as it shows the lines much better. And the final push factor? Yeah of course, as its only available 6 units worldwide. This much details rarely showed up within microbrands, hats-off to @autodromo on putting the efforts.

This watch for me is to remind myself that having fun with your hobbies is indeed really fun and it doesn’t have to have a big brand name nor to be expensive ones.

With this now in the collection again, I think it’d be complete if I have Group B Evoluzione again, but the one in ‘Night Stage’ variant. As the black PVD will work better to hide a bigger size on the wrist.

Bradley, can help me then to track down one of the 14 units please? 😆

Daytrip to Ipoh and concluded 1k km for the whole week. We collected plants, got a good food, quick tour of the city, visited a petting zoo for the kids, and finished it up with one of the most beautiful polo club in Malaysia.

Anyway, what a beast is this car, I still wish it’s the Alpina XB7 tho. 👀

Perfect size car for a family, good enough to squeeze in amongst KL traffic, no need to think where we’ll ended up or how the road conditions on our destination. #THEX7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence is ticking all the box.

Now I’ve collected all the experiences within 1k drive, it’s time to improve what we can do so our customer will enjoy the car more and more.

My 2024 best find was the first gen Reverso, which now confirmed it truly is from 1931 after I got it back from Le Sentier a few months back with its Extract of Archives.

This year? After a couple out-in within the collections, I have to say this one was quite unexpected. I literally already gave up searching for it, but out of the blue this piece pop by to me! Which I proudly unveil it to you now in 3, 2, 1 … Seamaster 321 from 1965!

Okay, okay, that’s a bad pun .. taken in Cyberjaya by @aninde34
