Celebrating The One Year Anniversary Milestone of Smithdown Social Arts Hub, May 24-Hour Art-A-Thon 🥳 1️⃣

Alongside Brenda @sacredroses35 , Paul @paul.tsanos and the ASC Team I supported the delivery of the 24 Hour Art-A-Thon as a Volunteer Project Manager. Collectively we raised over £4,000, brought joy to the community, had a local artist showcase and were featured in the Liverpool Echo.

~ My Inspirations ~
→ My Libyan, North African & Maghreb Culture 🇱🇾 ⵣ

→ Bright bold colours

→ Patterns, lines, shapes, geometric patterns

→ Tribal patterns

~ Art and My Journey ~
I am influenced by the world around me and my culture as British-Libyan, East meets West, and tribal cultural art. Bold colours, patterns, shapes, and pop art inspire me. My North African culture and its people were a big influence on this collection.

My passion for the arts, design and creativity started at secondary school. Since then, I have worked with a number of creative organisations across Liverpool over the last decade including: Tate Liverpool, Movema, Liverpool Arab Arts Festival (LAAF), National Museums Liverpool (NML) and Sony Photography Awards.

To me, art is culture, expression and wellbeing.

A special thank you to all the artists and The Whole SSAH Community!

Last week, under the AfriRise Women and Youth Initiative, I had the privilege of organising a special Iftar to celebrate women. While many women initially signed up, a number unfortunately had to drop out at the last minute.

However, the evening was truly about the incredible women who still showed up. Your presence, commitment, and willingness to come together made the gathering meaningful and inspiring.

This Iftar was not just about breaking the fast—it was about connection, sisterhood, and empowering one another. The conversations, laughter, and shared reflections created a beautiful atmosphere that reminded us how powerful it is when women support and uplift each other.

To every woman who attended despite the smaller numbers, thank you. Your presence mattered, and you helped make the evening special. You are the reason initiatives like this continue—to build confidence, community, and spaces where women can feel seen, heard, and valued.

Here’s to many more gatherings that bring women together to grow, support, and inspire one another. ✨

🎨 SMITHDOWN SOCIAL ARTS HUB (SSAH) & GALLERY 455 NEEDS YOU! 🎨

Despite 6 years of creative community work, @smithdownsocial Arts Hub now are at real risk of closing due to lack of funding for the arts.

Just this month, their latest bid to the Arts Council, to continue supporting Neurodiverse Creatives, was rejected!

So, we’re turning to our community to help us raise £2,500 to keep SSAH’s doors open into the autumn.

💬 WHY IT MATTERS: 💬
→ SSAH provide a vital creative space for Autistic and neurodiverse artists and the wider community

→ SSAH have held 35+ exhibitions

→ featuring 100+ local artists (many showing work for the first time)

→ featuring 1,000+ pieces of artwork over the last 4 years

→ a “profit for artists” ethos keeps commissions low (20–30%) to support creatives fairly

→ SSAH is a social enterprise committed to community and creativity
