last pride, I was forcibly outed... 😫

so this pride im going ALL OUT, baby 💅🏼 yes im queer ✨im trans and nonbinary and use all pronouns 🌊 and i love ppl across the gender spectrum 🏳️‍🌈 yes anito is my lived name and I have a legal name to help me navigate a world violent against folks like me, qtpoc.

im not doing this to prove myself to anyone. this is to take my autonomy back. to make sure who i am can no longer be used against me by others. ive been quiet for so long, and thats how I was raised to be. but I have my voice now hehe, and even if now is not the safest time to do so, I now proudly speak my truth—and I hope how I move through life can help inspire others, too 🎤

pride is about love and celebrating us, yes, but, for me, it is also a renewal of commitment to collectively imagine, build, and fight for a better and safe world for us all!!! 😤 never forget—pride began with a 🧱 and all our struggles are interconnected!

Good bye for now folks on IG! I'll see you again sometime next year. Grateful for all of the awesome people I've met and connected with. Grateful for EVERYTHING. Y'all are amazing. Keep organizing for a better world, keep making beautiful art, and keep shining a light in the hearts of those around you.

I'm logging off this Friday and won't return for (at least) another six months, so please feel free to DM by then if you'd like to stay in touch.

It's #filipinoamericanhistorymonth , and the death of the old world unfolds before us in real time, even if we still clock in and report to work. Thinking a lot about this quote from Carlos Bulosan. Thinking about what's going on here in Chicago, and what's to come. Thinking about Black folks, indigenous peoples, and those of us queer and trans, especially of the global majority. Thinking about what's going on in the Philippines. Palestine. Congo. Sudan. All of the lands where oppression, domination, and greed currently thrives and robs the people of their lives and freedom and the welfare of our many ecosystems all over.

Life feels perilous, especially as a poor, alienated queer toiling, camouflaging, and scrambling to survive in the belly of the beast, but I know I must do all that I can to do my part in helping to bring in this new world, first from within my own heart each day. I pray to my ancestors for the spirit and courage to struggle and fight, for me, for you, and for all who shall inherit the world we shape and shall leave behind, for we owe it to them, the younger generations, to whom we belong and owe our lives to. by @anitocimarron
