Blessed Maundy Thursday to us all.
New commandment (love one another) and
New Covenant (his once and for all sacrifice).

In Catholicism this is the remembrance of the day our LORD JESUS CHRIST established the two Sacraments.
Holy Eucharist and Holy orders (clergy).

As written on Hallow App 👇🏾👇🏾

“One of the most eventful and vital days in the liturgy of the Church, Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus with His disciples, where He instituted both the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Holy Orders (the priesthood).

As we read in 1 Corinthians about the Eucharist,

“This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

And in the Gospel of John, Chapter 13 about the Sacrament of Holy Orders, Jesus washed the feet of His disciples and urged them to follow after Him and spread the Good News:

“For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.” by @ankaah_

LATIN

Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae;
Vita, dulcedo et spes nostra salve.
Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Hevae.
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia ergo, advocata nostra,
illos tuos misericordes oculos ad nos converte.
Et Jesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens, o pia, o dulcis Virgo Maria.

SWAHILI

Salamu Malkia, Mama mwenye huruma,
uzima, tulizo, matumaini yetu salamu,
Tunakusihi ugenini hapa sisi wana wa Eva.
Tunakulilia, tukilalamika na kuhuzunika
bondeni huku kwenye machozi.
Haya basi Mwombezi wetu,
utuangalie kwa macho yako yenye huruma,
na mwisho wa ugeni huu,
utuonyeshe Yesu, Mzao Mbarikiwa wa tumbo lako.
Ee Mpole, ee Mwema,
ee Mpendelevu, Bikira Maria.

ENGLISH
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry,
poor banished children of Eve.
To thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving,
O sweet Virgin Mary. by @ankaah_

Perhaps You don’t need Catechism or The Church Fathers Writings to Accept John 20:21-23 as it is.

You are looking at 131 years old Cathedral in Zanzibar (predominantly Islam), what a beautiful place.😍
Couldn’t resist taking pictures when I went in for Sunday Mass. Now Reflecting on the history of Christianity in Zanzibar and this magnificent building being the first Church ever built on this Island I was humbled 🥹🥹
The Cathedral was named after the most humble human and the great saint in history that is Saint Joseph Husband of Mary.
