Performing a poem for an audience of South Asian changemakers, leaders, and friends was one for the books.

Having the opportunity to meet electeds like @pramilajayapal, @suhasforva, @nidaallam, & @ltgovhashmi alongside so many leaders in the social impact space was so surreal.

Thank you @hsdems & the @thedemocrats for being the reason I was able to finally attend a DNC meeting during my term. Being HSDA’s National Programs Director has been the honor of a lifetime and I’m so excited to close out my term this summer at our national summit.

Thank you @dncclimate & @aapicaucusdems for being the most incredible groups to work with. @michelle.deatrick, @francescahongwi, @reemsubei, @vedapriya120 - the four of you are incredible female inspirations to me.

ABOUT ANKITA:
Named a “Voice for the Future” by the Georgia Asian Times, Ankita Jaikumar serves as one of Atlanta’s 24-26 Youth Poet Laureate Ambassadors as well as a student organizer on the local, state, and national levels. Her poetry often grapples with her Pakistani American identity, womanhood, and coming-of-age storylines.

An alumna of Iowa University’s Between the Lines writing program, she has been recognized by the Alliance for Young Writers and Authors for her poetry several times. She has performed at venues such as the Martin Luther King Center, Georgia Aquarium, Zoo Atlanta, Georgia State Capitol, Atlanta Civic Center, Atlanta International Night Market, and more to over 35,000 attendees.

ABOUT THE IMPACT SUMMIT:
The Impact Summit and Gala is the premier national gathering of Indian and South Asian American changemakers, including elected officials, organizers, advocates, artists, and community leaders, coming together to assert our belonging and act on it.

Thank you @voxatl for the most incredible night. The opportunity to co-host their yearly fundraiser as well as earn the 2026 Spirit of VoxATL Award are honors I am so grateful for.

Sharing this award with talents like former @cnn10 host Carl Azuz, @wabenews very own @rosescottatl, and two fellow teens, Willah and Mikayla continues to feel so unbelievable.

This award was given to me for being a collaborative and interpersonal individual in all things VOX ATL as well as being a championing voice in poetry and organizing throughout metro Atlanta.

Thank you @voxatl for believing in me my sophomore year and becoming so much of why I am the person I am today.

Thank you @21clyouth for the opportunity to open your gala with a performance of spoken word this past weekend at Zoo Atlanta!

Speaking to a crowd of hundreds was just so incredible. I left the gala knowing that with just “a little care” we all can be the inspiration we aspire to be. So proud of each and every one of the 21 youth awardees for their achievements.

Thank you to @ghsaofficiall for the opportunity to win 🥇 at regionals and attend State Qualifiers! While I didn’t place at GHSA States, I did meet so many incredible people and saw some jaw dropping theatre. The fine arts continues to be my favorite place to be ♥️ by @ankitakj_

Our @students4civics & @asianstudentalliance youth advocacy field trip was an incredible success. Thank you to everyone at ASA, especially Ahra, Lena, and Darrent, for being an amazing partner for S4C. Having our students meet a bipartisan coalition of legislators from across the Senate and House was one for the books.
