Thank you to everyone who joined us last Saturday at our first SYWWAB (So You Want to Write a Book?) workshop at @papemelroti !

We were so elated to have so many people sign up to join and a few walk-ins as well. 🫶🏻

It was great to meet everyone and to learn about your book projects! It was interesting to hear so many different ideas, and I do hope that you update us on your progress. 😍

For those who wanted to go but were not able to come, we have scheduled another session for 2027!

Tentatively scheduled for Saturday, January 30, still at Papemelroti (Papemelroti Artisan’s Workshop) 🙂.

Six years and four books into this self-publishing journey, and we finally had our first face-to-face book launch — at the Manila International Book Fair, no less!

We shared stories about how award-winning illustrator @dani.doe_ and I worked together on "Kalikasan sa Kung Saan-Saan" and how challenging it was for her to break away from her usual fantastical characters to illustrate real, actual Philippine species! We definitely missed having our editor, Celine Murillo , there with us!

We also played a “Match the Species to the Habitat” game, where our audience learned more about some of the amazing species found in the Philippines, the habitats they call home, and why protecting these places is so important to their survival. It was a fun way to show that biodiversity isn’t just about individual animals and plants — it’s about being part of an ecosystem that keep all of us all alive. Protecting their habitats ultimately means protecting ours, too.

Many thanks to Haribon Foundation and other friends from the environment world, for helping us with the crucial information verification for the book. Making sure we featured our local species and habitats accurately was such an important part of putting this book together.

And of course, thank you to our friends and family who came to the launch, continue to support us by purchasing our books, and sometimes simply cheering us on. Six years into this journey, that still means a lot!

And finally, a very special thank you to Haring Ibon/Birds in Focus for making this book launch happen!

Here’s to getting more stories about Philippine biodiversity into the hands of more kids — and hopefully raising a generation that knows and cares about what we have right here at home. 🌿

We had a massive day today at the MIBF!! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth on our fourth day, and to those who got signed copies of our books and cards! This was, by far, the busiest day of the MIBF so far, so we really appreciate everyone who came by and supported our booth today!🦜🦋🐊🦅🎭⛰️

On September 12, we will have the book launch of the fourth book from AnK Publishing, entitled “Kalikasan sa Kung Saan-saan,” written by @anyas_voice , illustrated by @dani.doe_ , and edited by Celine Murillo💚

This colorful book explores the many protected areas across our archipelago and the many wildlife found within them! Each spread takes you across the colorful landscape of our islands from the mountains, forests, lakes, and oceans, exploring the numerous mammals, birds, and flora that call the Philippines their home 🐦🦎⛰️

Here it is! The @haringibon_ph - Birds in Focus, Inc. events for this year’s @manilabookfair 🦅🇵🇭

First up are our book launches of “Kalikasan sa Kung Saan-saan” and “Masskara Festival,” which will take place during the Pages of Philippine Pride session on September 12.

🌳 Kalikasan sa Kung Saan-saan is the latest children’s book from @ankpublishing , written by @anyas_voice , illustrated by @dani.doe_ , and edited by Celine Murillo. This colorful book explores the many protected areas across our archipelago and the many wildlife found within them!

🎊 Masskara Festival is a children’s book written by Bela Pauline Basco-Inventor and illustrated by Maica Yatco, showcasing one of the Philippines’ most colorful and iconic festivals!

Catch both of these book launches on September 12, Saturday, over at Meeting Room 9 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM!

🐌 On September 9, Dr. @gizellethepebble of UP UP Marine Science Institute will be at the Birds in Focus, Inc. booth, showcasing the many mollusks of the Philippines from 10:00 to 11:30 AM! She’ll also be drawing mollusks for free to the first 10 visitors of this event!!!

Over the weekend, we will also have many of our authors, including Professor @ja.abaddon , @alain.pascua , @vinzpascua , @maiagoesbirding , and @celtungol , at our booth for a couple of meet-and-greet sessions📚 We will be announcing their personal schedules within the week, so stay tuned for those announcements so that you can plan your visit!

To make this year’s MIBF even more exciting, we will have more books than ever at our booth, all discounted, for MIBF visitors throughout all 5 days of the fair! Last week's school visit that started at @toddlersunlimited95 with a storytelling session with Pinky the Picky Butterfly, where we talked about their favorite fruits and vegetables, and how they should try different colored foods! The next session was an introduction to Philippine biodiversity with the elementary students next door at @thinkers.unlimited! Yes, our books can cater to little and big kids alike!
