I don’t make many wedding cakes but @joe_carlton and @luke.boatright caught me on an amenable day so I made theirs. Layers of the lightest sponge with fig compote and caramelised honey buttercream with fruit tumbling off the edges. @milofilo_ has an exhibition at St James’ Church titled ‘All change please’ as part of the Islington Proms. I’ve seen so many of these images and loved them as scans and on the screen but it’s very special to see them printed at scale and out in the world for all to see.

Found an undeveloped b&w film in an old SLR yesterday. And marched it down to Snappy Snaps Bath… Still can’t believe what they pulled out of it. Like a time capsule:

100% Vermont grains milled on stone, baked in brick, and fired with maple wood. A trip with @anna.atthetable (pictured in the first slide) that would inspire our own @newamericanstonemills venture that we call @landracemilling. And eventually Anna’s own project @quince.bakery.

Fruit picking season has my heart. Even if it’s far too hot to be outside really and I’m beyond tired from a day of baking nothing makes me happier than scavenging under the canopy. I love how you think you’ve picked all the ripe berries you can reach but as soon as you turn your head or take a step to the side a new perspective is revealed. Perfect, ripe mulberries that had just been hiding behind a leaf or two.

When we say we're opening across the street we mean right over the street! Clementine will be cosy and buzzy. We can't wait to perch ourselves in one of those window seats or maybe nestle into the corner table. Head to the crowdfunder to hear about all the rewards! The news is out! We are opening a cafe, Clementine, across the street from Quince! More bakes, more of that good flour used, more beautiful fruit for you to enjoy. MORE JOY!
