Fear can be used as a weapon by politicians and by individuals with racist ideologies and agendas. That kind of fear is the most toxic and damaging. Sometimes, two groups of people are manipulated by two corrupt leaders, each telling their followers to hate the other. Bombs are thrown, guns are exchanged, and the politicians laugh as the young fight, die, and carry trauma they’ll pass down for generations.
To conquer fear, we must learn to embrace discomfort. If we embraced cultures, languages, and religions different from our own, maybe we wouldn’t be so easily manipulated. It sounds trite, I know, but sometimes the answers to the world’s problems are simpler than some would have us believe. Education is power, and it is power that no dictator can take away.
I can trace my roots back to ancient Wales and ancient Celtic cultures. My ancestors might have said these phrases when discussing fear: “Calon haearn,” “Heart of iron,” or “Arwr heb ofn,” “A hero without fear.” In ancient Celtic mythology, the word for fear is ofn, but it doesn’t just mean fear as in fight or flight, it can also mean awe or reverence.
When I think of a great leader, I think about the idea of being positive through adversity. I think about an individual willing to hold up a glowing torch that we all can follow to a better world. If someone claims to be an activist, a politician, or someone who wants to help, but they can only focus on the negative and have no ideas or solutions, then I question where they stand. I question their motives.Studies from The Independent and Cambridge University have shown that the more negative or fearful your posts are on social media, the more engagement you get. It doesn’t pay to be positive; it doesn’t pay to see the bright side of the world we live in. It can also be seen as disingenuous or that you don’t care, instead of what it is, one of the bravest things you can do. #brave #usa #positive #work #love #insta #fear #America #world #power #healing #❤ taken in United States by @anna.lloyd20_

I welcome the October sunrise! Last October, I could not enjoy my favorite season for many reasons. I find myself waking up and feeling grateful for every moment. October soothes my soul. October symbolizes the harvest, renewal, and abundance. The changing and falling of leaves symbolize letting go of the old and embracing change. #october #love #letgo #harvest #halloween by @anna.lloyd20_

I don’t know why, but the scene touches my soul in so many ways. Ivanhoe is a 1952 Technicolor epic historical adventure film directed by Richard Thorpe, produced by Pandro S. Berman, and starring Robert Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, Joan Fontaine, George Sanders, and Emlyn Williams. The screenplay was written by Aeneas MacKenzie, Marguerite Roberts, and Noel Langley based on the 1819 historical novel Ivanhoe by Walter Scott. #moves #love #instagood #elizabethtaylor #screenplay by @anna.lloyd20_

Holding Gloria in my heart this morning. After what I went through last year, her work is even more important to me. I have always looked up to her, even as a teenager, but as an adult, I have a deeper respect for her. She truly was a trailblazer. I’m also grateful that she outlived Phyllis Schlafly. My hope for Gloria was that she would live to see Trump out of office. Prayers to her loved ones. Thank you, Gloria Steinem. You will be deeply missed. #gloriasteinem #hope #women #usa #instagood by @anna.lloyd20_

To the people who aren’t teachers, let me give you a hint about what’s going on right before school starts and now that school has started. Teachers are in first-aid classes, like I was, learning how to use a tourniquet on a four-year-old child who’s been sh*t… just in case something were to happen. It is possible to sue the American government over g*n violence, but it is very difficult. But on behalf of teachers and children, at this point, I am all for it. We talk a lot about freedom in this country. We talk a lot about wanting to protect our children. Yet we have failed. America will never be a truly free country as long as we are living in the shadow of g*n violence. #teacher #hope #usa #redcross #school by @anna.lloyd20_

I am happy to announce that I got a promotion to work full-time at my new job teaching. I’m a teacher, but I am also dyslexic. I have students with dyslexia who are capable and brilliant.

The video down below is making the rounds on the Internet. As we speak, I am doing a Harvard-level intensive course that takes four months to complete on leadership. I guarantee you Trump isn’t smart enough to be getting A’s. But guess what, I am!

This type of rhetoric is extremely distressing. No dyslexic child, which is one in four, by the way, wants to see their president talking badly about them. Dyslexia is not a disability in a sense; it is a learning difference. Many creative people have dyslexia, including Keira Knightley, Henry Winkler, and possibly Leonardo da Vinci.

Being dyslexic comes with many gifts. Trump isn’t smart enough to see it.

If you’re a mom with a dyslexic child and you voted for this man, how are you truly feeling right about now?

Maybe next time we shouldn’t allow a bully to be president. Maybe that wasn’t smart thinking. #dyslexic #teach #hope #mom #dad by @anna.lloyd20_
