2025
Cherished the ones who prioritise me. Had an adventure of a lifetime. Still yearning for a more compassionate future. May 2026 bring satisfying endings to projects, big and small. Wishing you a caring and comforting 2026 ✨️ by @anna.puella

"If you stop to think about it, you'll have to admit that all the stories in the world consist essentially of twenty-six letters. The letters are always the same, only the arrangement varies. From letters words are formed, from words sentences, from sentences chapters, and from chapters stories."
.
I finally finished The Neverending story by Michael Ende. The book has haunted me since the first time I tried to read it as a child. I remember how the change between green and red font along with the illustrations fascinated me. The book is truly a love letter to the written word and imagination. Adding a new author's works to the list of books I want to be able to read in the original German one day 🕯✨️💛 by @anna.puella

However cliché this sounds, going on a solo trip to Australia has probably been one of the best things I have ever done. I have shown that I could keep myself nourished and fed. I have been able to spend money on treating myself and while these things probably don't sound that impressive, they are to me. I really have come far in taking care of myself. I cried when I finally arrived at my hotel after 24+ hours on the way, and I know I'll cry again, probably on a random Wednesday.
I am so overwhelmed by the kindness, hospitality, and sincerity of the Australians. I can't recall a single time I felt unsafe or someone was rude to me. I have loved every single conversation I have had with people I just happened to be in the same shop, museum, tram, bus or train as.
From my chat about the world situation and the importance of being kind with a lady at May Gibbs' Nutcote who participated in the march on Sydney Harbour Bridge for Palestine to nerdy uni related things with Tom working at the Hellenic Museum who would not let me go as soon as he heard I studied ancient Greek and showed me all their inscriptions on my last day before heading home. I will never get over how much time people are willing to give someone they just met.
I am so grateful for your time with me, Jemilla. I loved seeing Central Coast and exploring Newtown with you. Those two days in particular were highlights of my time in Australia. I hope I will get to visit you soon again. Our friendship really means a lot to me. Tusind tak! Besides the coffee, I already miss the colourful and rather noisy birds as well as the Philodendron Xanadu and Banksias. by @anna.puella

✨️ "Translation means doing violence upon the original, means warping and distorting it for foreign, unintended eyes. So then where does that leave us? How can we conclude, except by acknowledging that an act of translation is then necessarily always an act of betrayal?" ✨️
.
It felt a bit like an achievement to have read a 500+ pages book again, I'm proud of that. Raise your hand if your attention span is getting worse 🙋‍♀️ it seems like I'm not the only one, sadly. I hope I'll have more thought-provoking reads like Babel to look forward to in 2025. Translation truly is a fascinating activity, something worthy of appreciation as well as reflection. I'm attending a talk on the use of AI in translation and the potential (surprise) threat it is to the overall industry of book publishing. I don't know about you, but the world seems more and more dystopian by the day. by @anna.puella
