“The Three Sisters”
Here’s a lil piece I did as a Father’s Day gift for my Pa. As he’s a dad of three daughters, I figured this would be fitting!

The Farnsworth House: Emily Carr Edition

This is my final project for my first year of Interior Design! We were assigned to redesign the interior (just the kitchen and bathroom) of the iconic Edith Farnsworth House by Mies Van Der Rohe. I’ve added a photo of the original house on the fourth slide.
We got to pick a famous Canadian and make them a Farnsworth vacation home built on the Gatineau River in Ottawa. Taking full advantage of the fact that we got to pick our client, I stayed true to my inner landscape-painter and chose Emily Carr. I have always loved her art, so this was the perfect opportunity to dive right into her story and portfolio to draw inspiration from. I have added some of her paintings in the last couple slides of this post if you’re not familiar with her art :)

My design concept for this project is to embrace the surrounding nature, and to avoid imposing on the environment. I brought in elements from the West Coast (where she’s from) as well as bits from the space around her in Ottawa.

Thanks for checking it out! by @anna_brash_art

This was a super fun piece that was commissioned as a wedding gift for my amazing cousin! She and her hubby got married in Big Sur, California. It made for a lovely reference photo!
