I love photographing so many different parts of nature 📷💚
From Florida wildlife and conservation stories to small creatures, textures and little details that are easy to miss 🌱

It all matters to me 🌿

What would you like to see more of? by @anna_crocitto

I put up my @birdfy_by_netvue Terra hoping for a yard full of birds. Instead I got squirrels. So many squirrels. 🐿️👻 They were feasting from my feeder like it’s an all-you-can-eat-buffet...

...So I called in Stitch, my squirrel buster!! 🐶 He chased them off and the birds finally got their turn. The Terra captures and identifies every bird that stops by, so now I know exactly who’s visiting my yard! 🪶

What makes the Terra special:
🐦 AI bird recognition for 6,000+ species
🎥 1080P HD video and 60FPS slow motion
🌙 Full-color night vision
☀️ Solar powered and weatherproof
🌈 Brick red and olive green design that blends into your garden

Happy Halloween! 🎃👻

Happy spooky season!!🦉👻🎃
Owls have been linked to Halloween for centuries, since people once believed their eerie calls meant a witch was nearby🧙🏼‍♀️

Florida is actually home to the world’s largest barn owl nesting network, right in the Everglades, with over 2,000 boxes housing more than 2,500 owls 🦉🦉🪹

Lots of more spooky season posts from me this month! 👻🎃🧙🏼‍♀️🧟‍♀️

I kept going back and forth trying to pick just one photo for today’s post, but I couldn’t 😅 I’m obsessed with water textures and reflections, the tiny details on green anoles and lizards, light pockets in shaded areas and just all the little details in nature 🔎🌿🌺

let me know, which one you like most, and should I post more macro photography?

8/14 📸 of posting daily by @anna_crocitto

I had a hard time picking a photo today. I scrolled through my camera roll and shortlisted about 30, but ended up here. This ibis has been sitting on my phone for a long time, and I always thought it wasn’t good enough.

When I took it, I was in a phase where I focused on close-up wildlife, and this felt too far away. Coming back to it now, I actually love it. I can see the clear blue water of the springs, the morning light on the ibis, the green lily pads, and the cypress knees. The surroundings give the whole scene so much more context 🪶

Sometimes a photo just needs time

Day 7 of 14 📸

#wildlifephotography #floridawildlife #birdsofinstagram #sonyalpha #sonyalphafemale by @anna_crocitto

This place feels more like a jungle than a regular trail. Tropical, quiet, and full of life
The rain gave it an extra lush, jungly vibe 💧🌿I love the deep greens this time of year 🌱
I spotted some wildlife and native plants along the way, and labeled a few in the slides 📝

🦋Butterflies are definitely harder to photograph than birds 🦜 they don’t sit still for long. I’ve been wanting to capture the detail in monarch wings for a while. I didn’t quite get “the shot” yet, but this is just the beginning 🪻🐛🦋🔎

Shot on my Sony A7IV + 90mm macro f/2.8, one of my favorite lenses for this kind of work 📸

Day 5/14 of trying to post daily - a bit longer post but I felt like I needed to change it up a bit

Day 4/14 📷

Purple Martins are migrating right now. From roughly August into September, they leave Florida and head south to spend the winter in the Amazon basin of Brazil

Eastern Purple Martins now nest almost entirely in birdhouses. Native Americans hung gourds for them centuries ago, and the birds adapted. Today, natural cavities like old woodpecker holes are scarce, and invasive starlings and house sparrows, both common in Florida, often take over what’s left. Human-made housing is their best chance to raise young.

Photographed last spring at their birdhouse in the Florida wetlands 📷🌾💦

📷 Photo 3/14

My first ruby-throated hummingbird! I never shared this one because the hummingbird is sitting on barbed wire instead of a flower. I took it at the botanical gardens, of all places. But it was my first, and I haven’t managed to photograph one since. Now my goal is to get one on a flower or in flight 🌸🌼🌺

Day 2/14 of sharing one photo a day

I kept hearing this bobwhite calling from the scrub 🌾 and followed its voice until, through the Spanish moss draped over the oak trees, I finally saw it! This was the closest I could get, they’re incredibly skittish, so getting anywhere near one is a challenge 🍃

📸 Day 1/14: I’m going to be traveling for the next two weeks, so instead of my usual posting, I’m doing a photo-a-day series. Starting off with this downy woodpecker I photographed in the early morning light in a hardwood hammock in the woods of north Florida 🌳🌳🌲🌅

Fun fact: downy woodpeckers are the smallest woodpecker species in North America, but they hammer on wood up to 20 times a second. Their skull has a spongy bone structure that absorbs the shock, and their tongue is so long it wraps around the inside of their skull to act as extra cushioning. Basically a tiny built-in helmet 🤓🪖🪶

AP Ranch isn’t just a ranch 🐮…

It’s wild Florida, full of life and stories everywhere you look 🌿
I had the chance to explore this permanently protected land with @conservationflorida , and this carousel barely shows all the wildlife calling this place home

Deer wandering through mossy forests like something out of a fairytale ✨🦌✨A barred owl watching quietly 🦉A family of swallow-tailed kites flying above and having lunch… the circle of life is real here 🐸🌀 Black vultures in trees, native plants and flowers blooming everywhere, a fox squirrel hidden in the oak trees, life everywhere you look!
All these animal are safe now 💚
