A custom watercolor portrait for a wonderful couple and returning clients.
🎨🖌️
When I paint, I always look for that underlying sense of grace and quiet composure. For this piece, alongside the portrait itself, I hand-lettered a favorite line from Charlotte Brontë’s Shirley on textured paper using sepia and gold: “There is a quiet dignity in true elegance that needs no ornament...”
📚
Ideas often cross paths - from museum walls filled with classic paintings to the pages of old books. Translating that timeless aesthetic into something tangible for someone’s home is always a quiet joy.

“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” ~ Thomas Campbell 🕊️It was a true honor to create this watercolor portrait for a dear client Amy, featuring her late father alongside his grandchildren. The original reference photo was quite dark, so I gently reimagined the setting by placing them in their favorite spot near the sea - a place full of happy family moments. 💝🌊

I hope this painting brings warmth, comfort, and a beautiful memory of love to their home every single day.

“To see a world in the play of light and water...”

Moments of quiet recharge in Sorrento, turning pages, and letting the coastal breeze guide the palette. Every custom painting begins long before the brush touches paper it starts in the places that leave a lasting mark on the soul. 🌿🌊🎨

I usually try to avoid self-praise. Modesty and humility are values I hold very close. But as an artist who creates custom pieces for people, receiving feedback changes everything. Your opinions, your stories, and knowing how a piece makes you feel truly matter to me. This is why I wanted to share these kind words left by Amy on my Etsy shop, alongside a glimpse of how this engagement portrait came to life. 🤍✨

Swipe through to see the journey: from Amy’s reference photo of the couple on the beach, to the pencil sketch, the watercolor process, and finally the completed artwork.

Thank you so much, Amy, for trusting me to capture such a joyful milestone for your family. I hope this painting is cherished for generations to come.

If you’d like to turn your own special moments into a custom heirloom, my commission books are open (link in bio / Etsy shop). 🎨🌊

“To see a World in a Grain of Sand / And a Heaven in a Wild Flower / Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand / And Eternity in an hour”. ~ William Blake 🌿✨

There is a quiet magic in the spaces that ground us- wandering through the coastal light of Vietri and Castellabate, losing ourselves in the pages of a timeless book, or simply watching the sea. Every brushstroke in my studio is quietly shaped by these slow, breathing moments.

My latest custom wedding portrait is a celebration of that very feeling: capturing a love story so it becomes an enduring heirloom, meant to hold a lifetime of memories in a single frame. 🖼️ 💍💒

Postcards from our Italian summer. ☀️

Some days are for the studio, and some days are for wandering down to the sea. 🌊
Living so close to the coastline is a constant gift. Whenever I need a breath of fresh air, the coast is always waiting just around the corner. What does your perfect day off look like?

Celebrating 40 years of love, and a lifetime of timeless inspiration. 🤍✨

For this special milestone, I had the honor of painting a custom watercolor portrait for a couple celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, based on their original wedding photo. There is something so profoundly moving about capturing a love that has stood the test of time. It feels just like looking at a classic masterpiece.

Speaking of masterpieces, a recent afternoon spent wandering through the museum halls always reminds me why I fell in love with art in the first place. The textures, the history, the way light plays on canvas... it all pours back into the custom portraits I create for your families.

Sorrento state of mind. 🍋✨🎨🖌️
Whenever I need to clear my head, find new inspiration, or simply breathe in the beauty of the coast, you’ll find me wandering these exact streets. Sorrento is one of my favorite places to unwind and reset creative energy.
There is something about the colors of the sea, the warmth of the sun on the old buildings, and the timeless charm of this town that always makes its way back into my art.
Taking few days to slow down, but soon back to my painting desk, bringing your cherished stories to life. 🎨🌊

Time flies, but these moments stay forever. 🎨
I created their wedding watercolour a few years back, and today, I’m so happy to share these new portraits of the children - a beautiful reminder of how much love has filled their home since then. 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

A glimpse to my corner of the world 🎨

Where the mountains meet the sea, and the garden blossoms in full glory. This is where my muses are born. by @anna_gorbatenko_artist

The Berry Fairy 🫐🍒🩰🍓✨

A new dancer is coming to life.

She is born where two of my greatest loves meet: the elegance of ballet and the wild, vibrant rhythm of my garden. 🩰🌿

In my mind, a delicate lace bodice flows into the texture of a leaf, and the fluid movement of a dancer finds its soul in a sun-ripened berry. This Berry Fairy is a tribute to that invisible thread connecting art and the beauty of nature.

From first pencil lines to the final watercolor glow, she is ready for her performance.

Which do you feel more in this piece: the grace of the dance or the magic of the garden? by @anna_gorbatenko_artist
