POSTS STORIES REELS

Moment of surrender:

12 or 13 years ago, I was lucky enough to have a tiny window of time and (scant) money to pour into a full album recording of my songs. Since that time, I’ve been writing and recording demos telling myself that I would be in “the studio” to do them right as soon as possible.

Well, I have about 47 songs waiting to have their time in that mythic place, “the studio,” and I want to free myself of some of them. If I do not put them out as demos, they will never see the light of day. So I decided to release some on Bandcamp. (Link at the end of this post and in bio)

I’m still hoping to go into a studio and make another professionally recorded, beautifully mixed album of even better and better songs as I move into the future, but I’m proud of these songs. I want people to be able to hear them. I want you to be able to hear them. I hope they don’t offend with their raggedy clothes, but they’re good little critters. You can take ‘em home if you want. 🐕 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 🐩 🐻 🦛 🦜 🐟

Getting ready for my show at @make.shiftartspace this Saturday, February 3!

This song is called True as That. When I was in college, I learned about a kind of poem called an ars poetica. When a poet makes a poem to describe what it means to them to make poems, it’s an ars poetica. This song is an ars poetica for me:

“I got a rock stuck in my shoe, so I decided to save it for you. It isn’t pretty, but it’s complete; describing its contours to the soles of my feet.”

I have a lot of rocks to dump out for you all. Come listen! ❤️ by @annaarvan

9/23/26 SIX YEARS NO BEERS 💪

It’s been 13 years to the day since alcoholism took my dad after he made countless attempts to quit. I feel like the difference between being on this side and being on that side is so minor. Addicts are some of my favorite people - enthusiastic, curious, passionate, sad, and often too smart in a way.

Today I wish freedom to anyone feeling trapped. It’s waiting for you. It loves you. ❤️❤️❤️ by @annaarvan

A tribute to Dolly Parton at @shakedownbham. It was wonderful to hear the care that everyone put into the music of a legend. by @annaarvan

I can’t believe I get to do stuff like this! I am so lucky.

Dolly was able to focus so much magic into her songs and her presence, and she joyfully embodied a lot of things that women often get shamed for - a high voice that was often compared to Minnie Mouse when she was getting started. Big boobs. Tons of makeup and tons of femininity. And she did it so hard that while people thought they were mocking her, they were actually making her into one of the most successful and iconic presences in American history. I can say she played a big part in deprogramming a lot of my own internalized misogyny. I love her forever. 💖🦋💖

Thank you @wolfmanofmoria for the videos and for gifting me both of the instruments I am using in these videos. 🖤🖤🖤 by @annaarvan

Last night’s tribute to Dolly was so, so super special. There was a lightness and ease to everything that seemed to let all our best selves shine through. Thank you to @shakedownbham for putting it together, and thank you @forest_stoke @havilahsings @misuz.matney for sharing your beautiful renditions of Dolly’s work. We raised money for good and we showed up in a way that honored her incredible legacy. 🦋 by @annaarvan

I’m so excited to join old friends and new to celebrate the genius songwriting and singular spirit of Dolly ✨ someone who burned so bright with loving kindness and generosity. Come early to buy art from my girl @ashleyolason and stay late to sing along!

Swipe to see a tomatillo flower - I had no idea they were so pretty. 😘 by @annaarvan

I hate the forest fire smoke, so I made this Corsi-Rosenthal air filter. The hardest part was finding MSRV 13 air filters, but other than that, it was really easy and it really works!! 💚💚💚 by @annaarvan

SEEKING BUDDIES TO HAVE SLEEPOVERS WITH OUR DOGS: Meet Brock and Rita, our two sweet pups. We have been so lucky in the past to find good dog friends to stay with them when we have to go out of town, but with life changes we need to find some more puppy buddies to have on our roster.

We would need someone who can spend the night with them in Everson at our house. They get fed morning and dinner time, and they are used to being home alone during work shifts and other absences.

We would pay you and fix you treats! Send over a message if you know anyone who would be interested. 💖🐕🦛 THANK YOU! by @annaarvan
