I turn 21 this Sunday.

This birthday is feeling a lot different than the rest. With being sober for almost 3 years now and just now reaching the age of 21 is just very surreal. It’s caused me to reflect a lot on where I was before I knew Jesus as Lord and savior. I was living for the weekend, I was living for acceptance from people, I was living for love from boys, I was living to be seen. All of the things I was chasing left me empty, left me anxious, and left me more broken than I was before. I would sit hopeless, not knowing what my purpose was and if there even was one for me. Alcohol was a way I could “escape” this feeling and it left me at rock bottom. Then my life got flipped upside down by a man. A man named Jesus, who came down to earth to reconcile us with the Father. I always heard about it growing up, never knowing the true weight of what Jesus really did. He didn’t just come so we could go to heaven, he came so that we could know Him. Knowing Jesus brings healing, brings true love, brings identity, brings true purpose that can never be taken away. To be fully honest, as I reach the age of 21 it scares me how accessible alcohol will be. How easy it could be for me to slip back, but the Lord is so sweet to remind me that nothing can snatch me from His hand. He is pursuing us, for His glory. He is a loving Father who wants to show us every single one of His promises and bring them to completion.

I just wanted to share a little bit about my story to show you that you’re not alone, you’re seen, and there is ALWAYS hope in Jesus. If you ever want to chat or have any questions I would love to try my best to help.
