@annabelpersoneni was a rising track star on the verge of an Ivy League scholarship at Princeton. But at just 21 years old, a diagnosis of severe hip dysplasia brought her athletic world to a crashing halt.

Faced with an identity crisis and a doctor’s order to “stay calm,” Annabel chose the opposite: she chose adventure.

In this episode, we explore her transition from obsessive training to the freedom of the arts. We talk about:

One of my favorite highlights from the Guadalajara edition was feeling that I had genuinely inspired @saneinutrition , we both saw each other the next day and were buzzing from the event we hadn’t slept properly 😛

„𝗖𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼 𝘆 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼“

Hoy tenemos como invitada a @annabelpersoneni, nuestra primera invitada no hispanohablante. Es francesa, vive en Zürich desde hace tres años, pero ha pasado por algunos países como Estados Unidos, Escocia, México, Perú y Argentina, donde nació su amor por el español.

🎶 Es música, compositora y creadora de comunidades: organiza conciertos, eventos y hasta un micrófono abierto. Tanto se ha integrado que ya la reconocen por las calles como „la chica del ukelele“ ;)
Su filosofía de vida es simple: si tienes una idea, hazla. Si tienes miedo, hazlo con miedo. Y si te sientes en una jaula... probablemente sea imaginaria, como la canción que escribió en un avión volviendo de Argentina y que hoy emociona a quien la escucha.

Solo travelling & building communities along the way almost feels like opposites 🤯

The nature of travelling means you usually move on quite fast from places and does not mean you are creating roots that will grow into a community afterwards. And yet, I’m still doing it, because organising WOMXN ON STAGE events gives me purpose when I’m travelling, it makes me connect with incredible women and I love every second of it.

It also teaches me a lot about how to crash organise events fast, how to find people and the right kind of people who will also bring their people to my event. If anything, it makes me prioritise the human quality of the lineup even more, are they genuinely caring and excited to join the community? 🥰

So far, the edition in Bali has been a success ✅

A personalized interview with @exploring_phd Chris, who was thrilled to discover WOMXN ON STAGE on Lembongan Island 🏝️

He asked me my origin story with the ukulele and I think it’s important to share it here on this page because it ties a lot to the purpose of creating WOMXN ON STAGE.

It all stems from the innate desire of being more independent and being able to rely on myself as a musician and a performer. I aim to empower women in this international community building event to support each other but first and foremost celebrate themselves and own the stage.

Encouraging women to tap into their own energy, skills and trusting themselves is what makes this event particularly powerful and special to me!
