Grandma, you were a force.

You lived with a deep commitment to your values, a fierce love for your family, and an unmatched passion for ice cream and margaritas.

Your legacy will live on in the ways you showed up, the things you cared about, and the lessons you left with all of us. And for those who did not have the pleasure of knowing her, here are a few snippets of Grandma’s wisdom:

Stand up for the causes, communities, and people you believe in.

Family is something you build, tend to, and take deep pride in.

Happy hour starts at 5 p.m. sharp.

Care about people. Really care.

Dessert is not optional.

Ask good questions and stay curious enough to listen to the answers.

Thank-you notes do not go unnoticed. Neither does not sending them.

Don’t save joy for special occasions.

Head scratches can cure almost anything.

Love should include respect, humor, humility, and the deeply annoying understanding that you are not always right.

Grandma, you will be deeply missed, but your legacy will be felt in every corner of our lives for generations to come.

I hope you found your ski boots and are ripping turns up there. Give Grandpa a smooch for us.

Oodles of love 💗 by @annaburkholder
