💥 Austrian Art Alumni Award 2026 So excited to finally be able to announce this after more than three months of keeping it secret: I was awarded the Austrian Art Alumni Award 2026 by the Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research together with all public art universities in Austria yesterday. I am still speechless and overjoyed that my artistic work is receiving this kind of appreciation and recognition and can hardly put into words what this means to me. This award is not only enormously motivating, but for us visual artists it is essential facing the economic pressures of everyday life. Especially in the current situation, where work in arts and culture is particularly hard hit by cuts and budget reductions everywhere and the rise of the far right threatens the freedom of art and culture. I am thrilled to now be able to realize my new body of work “Sediments” — where I explore how material processes and collective resources make social responsibility, care and solidarity visible. How wonderful that this first step will finally take me back to the Egyptian capital in December. THANK YOU to the jury of the @bmfwf.gv.at and @akbild, @dieangewandte, @kunstunilinz, @mdwwien, @kunstunigrazkug and @mozarteumuniversity for this grant. The amazing „Schwimmflügerl“ sculpture trophy is from @vanderetsch 🏊‍♂️🛟 But also: Thank you to my closest friends, family and inner circle and everyone who always believed in me and was a part of my artistic journey the past years. I couldn‘t be happier! Also happy that I was joined for the award ceremony by my dearest @katharinahalusa , @johnny.linde.r and @blockbuster.keaton ©️ 📸 eSeL.at - Joana Pianka #austrianartalumniaward #austrianartalumniaward2026 #artaward by @annacarinaroth

K23 preseents, Anna Carina Roth's (@annacarinaroth) OPEN STUDIO at k23_artstudio! Supported by Austrian Embassy Athens Tuesday 13.10.2026 19:00 40 Emmaouil Bennaki, Athens Inspired by the fragments of the Temple of Asclepius at Epidaurus, which she encountered at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Anna Carina Roth approaches her surroundings through drawing. In dialogue with Jean-Luc Nancy’s „The Pleasure in Drawing“, she understands drawing as a gesture of approaching bodily forms and their materiality. Collecting damaged instrument parts and photographically documenting these found objects provide a further starting point for her sculptural practice. Her focus lies both on the material qualities of the fragments and on the relationship between their present form and their original function. #annacarinaroth #opencall #athens #artresidency #keramikos23 by @annacarinaroth

Rosa Andraschek and Anna Carina Roth receive the A⁴ – Austrian Art Alumni Award 2026 For the second time, the A⁴ – Austrian Art Alumni Award was presented on Monday, 21 September 2026, at a ceremony honouring six outstanding graduates of Austrian art universities. Two of the award-winning artists are alumnae of the Department of Site-specific Art at the Angewandte: Rosa Andraschek receives the award for “Gras, auseinandergeschrieben“. The project examines the former Hirtenberg subcamp as a suppressed site of memory. Using drone footage, sound works, casts and printing processes, historical traces are captured and transferred into an installative work. Anna Carina Roth is honoured for the body of work “Sediments“. Through installation, photography on ceramic and analogue film, the work explores questions of resource justice, care and community, taking traditional water supply systems in Cairo as its starting point. @rosaandraschek @annacarinaroth @ortsbezogene @bmfwf.gv.at @dieangewandte — Rosa Andraschek © Rosa Andraschek Anna Carina Roth © Lena Roth Rosa Andraschek: Gras, auseinandergeschrieben © Rosa Andraschek Rosa Andraschek: Gras, auseinandergeschrieben © Rosa Andraschek Anna Carina Roth: Sediments Dust of Memory, video still, © Anna Carina Roth Anna Carina Roth: Sediments Dust of Memory, video still, © Anna Carina Roth by @annacarinaroth

There’s this thing about drawing that I’d completely forgotten. It makes my mind stop thinking and lets my hand simply glide intuitively across the paper. It’s this simplicity that appeals to me. Whilst my thoughts are constantly revolving around carefully thought-out concepts for kinetic objects and sculptures, this feels like a little break. from the series „Inner Tension“ pencil, coloured pencil, oil pastels & pastels on paper each 42x29,7 cm 2026 #drawings #annacarinaroth by @annacarinaroth
Some more shots of „Die kommunizierenden Gefäße“ (2026) as part of my diploma show in January. On the last slight a picture of the light sensitive paper mounted on plexi glass and how it looked like after 2 weeks of light exposure and salt water. Die kommunizierenden Gefäße 2026 Kinetic installation Glazed ceramics, plexiglass, light-sensitive paper, salt water, silicone, brass, water pump, motion sensor “Die kommunizierenden Gefäße” is an amorphous apparatus that explores a relationship in which closeness is essential to sustaining a system. The installation is activated via a motion sensor only when a viewer approaches. Plexiglass boxes resembling the heads of a couple are interconnected by a pumped liquid flowing from ceramic bodies suspended on the wall. Inside, light-sensitive photographic paper continuously reconfigures itself, darkening over the course of the exhibition as it is altered by light. Huge thank you again to @keramikstudio_angewandte for the support 🤍 📷 ©️Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien, Foto © Daniela Trost, 2026 licensed under CC BY NC ND 4.0 #annacarinaroth #kineticinstallation #sculpture #expandedphotography #contemporaryart by @annacarinaroth
