I came across this story about a couple who got married while facing stage 4 cancer. Thank you @annafroxas for making Big Talk about your love story with Michael. Our beautiful Michael Alan Blake’s Celebration of Life in Manila (2/2) 🥂🦆💛 Grateful to have the space and time to remember, honor, and celebrate our man. Lots of laughter and tears throughout the night, in our colorful MAB-inspired outfits, sharing silly memories, sketching ducks, watching videos from M’s family and friends all over the world, and toasting to M with his favorite–Guinness–served in a flute!

An absolutely beautiful night overflowing with love. We love you, Michael.

Sharing some of the words I wrote and spoke on May 13, during Michael’s visitation and cremation. The video was taken during the visitation, while the words were written after.

My love,

I didn’t feel that sharp pain I was anticipating at all! There was sadness, yes, but mostly, I felt quite good earlier—like it was a much-needed send-off.   I saw your body and didn’t feel attached to it. I recognized it as the body you borrowed and just knew you were elsewhere. Your body was a symbol of you. A beautiful symbol of you. You still looked so handsome in that wedding suit.

I got to speak in front of everyone with a full heart. I wasn’t too sad. I was proud reading our letters. Proud to be representing the love we had for each other. When I read that last bit about you always being with me, it felt like a reminder, so I smiled.

I stayed until they put you in the cremation furnace. I was okay, even smiling. I whispered a few words, reminding you that I was still there, staying with you until I physically can’t. Before they closed the casket, I blew some air kisses, gave you winks, and said more I love you’s and see you soon. The only time I truly cried was when your casket was fully inside the furnace. After a few seconds of sobbing, I nodded to the guy to signal that I was finally ready for him to start the process.

Kim walked me back to the car. That walk felt needed. The weather was nice and after a while, the sun peeked through. I paused to close my eyes and feel it more fully. I even asked Kim to take a photo of me thinking I’d want to show off my outfit under the sun to you!

I’ll go up to see the guests now and chat, but I just wanted to pass by and let you know (like you don’t already know) what earlier was like.
 I love you. Thank you for being there with me.

My love, my home. I love you with all of my heart, Michael Alan Blake. You’ve given me the best, fullest, and perfect years of my life. You showed me how warm and easy loving should be.

Now I’m lost. Life is going to be painful without you in it, but I told you that you shouldn’t worry and that I’ll be okay. It feels impossible now, but that day will come.

‘Little by little’, like you always said.

P.S. Hoping you haven’t let me feel your presence only because you’re already drunk on real good cold beers. by @annafroxas

Still recovering from this romantic surprise by the one and only @michael.alan.blake 🤍

With the help from family, Michael planned an early anniversary celebration. I was distracted by a girls’ night out and when I got back, our apartment was filled with small candles and bouquets of flowers. The dinner table was set up with food from our favorite local Italian restaurant, plus a beautiful gift and a handwritten card by Michael. He stood up, wearing a suit, looking all handsome as usual, with our song playing in the background.

Will keep this in my heart forever, as with all the other things he’s done and been. by @annafroxas

OH WOW what a trip scrolling through photos from the past year. 2024 was a FULL YEAR—getting engaged, getting married, travelled for Roxas and Blake family trips around Asia and States, and made a move from Vegas to California…

Life lately—
1. Start of a 3hr+ hike at Bald Mt, Maine
2. Seeing a moose for the first time!!!
3. Discovering a fun little post-CrossFit cool down spot at Babb’s Bridge
4. Mike rediscovering his love for fishing
5. Trying some Asian food in Bethesda
6. Our favorite part of the Houston Zoo
7. Trying my luck at tanning on a very windy Vegas day
8. Hiking at the Red Rock Canyon for the nth time in less than a year
9. Still trying to get some good squats in from time to time
10. How we spend time on Mike’s chemo days. We take Monopoly Deal seriously.
11. When I buy a gift for Mike, I make sure it looks good on me too…
12. What a treat to have both our families in one place even for such a short time!
13. Finally got to see Mick Jagger’s moves live
