The Faces of Midsommarfest:
Chronicled in one line and en massa kärlek 🌻

The best part of these one line portraits is the connection. Pictured here are
Friends for decades,
New neighbors,
Those who traveled from out of state or country to be with their loved ones,
Those who are moving to the area,
Those who are leaving,
Lovers who met on dating sites years ago,
Lovers who met last week,
Lovers who met at bars,
At book club,
At a D&D campaign,
In the wedding party of a mutual friend,
In the roles of Shrek and Fiona in Shrek the Musical,
Mothers,
Daughters,
Sons,
Fathers,
Brothers,
Sisters,
Queens,
Kings,
Cousins,
And kind folks all.
Souls worth knowing.
Faces worth showing.

Yes, they are literally connected by a singular line.
Just as we all are, metaphorically, too.

Thank you one and all for allowing me to draw you, get to know you, love you.

Tack sä mycket @avillechamber for the opportunity to get closer to our community and for the incredible celebration of summer and fellowship. Happy 60th Midsommarfest! 🇸🇪🌀✨ by @annainaninsta

Seven Months Growing Our Iris 🪬

Materials: pool noodle, hemp thread, tulle, pearls, seashells, cardboard, Iris + me, sweat, sun, water, time, and cyanotype on cotton cloth
Assistant: François

with this cyanotype I wanted to capture my third trimester belly and the feeling of connection to something bigger than myself. Iris felt then as he does now larger than life even then at about the size of an eggplant. His eyes were just beginning to sense changes in external light around this time. I wonder if he could see and feel the sun as we took this photo together. can you see the connection, the roots between my belly and the blooming flower?

I love you as big as the universe Iris. Maybe my love for you is the universe. Maybe it’s all the molecules and the in between. The Great Beyond and its reverse. Anything and everything sensed and all unseen. Time, a slinky moving down and up the stairs, record of my love for you both newer and more ancient than Osiris. I love you, as big as the universe, Iris. by @annainaninsta

Valborg is a longstanding Swedish tradition marking the end of winter with bonfires, music, and community gathering. Come throw your worries into the fire while enjoying soup, empanadas, Chicago Swedish Mixed Choir music, fire dancing, pottery, typewriter poetry, tarot, seed ball making, and yours truly with one line, one minute portraits 🦋🔥🌸

“Best to be like water,
Which benefits the ten thousand things
And does not contend.
It pools where humans disdain to dwell,
Close to the Tao.

Live in a good place.
Keep your mind deep.
Treat others well.
Stand by your word.
Keep good order.
Do the right thing.
Work when it’s time.

Only do not contend,
And you will not go wrong.

Best to be like water.”
