"How can I make the product the obvious star?"

This shoot was guided by that question. Commercial photographers must produce photos that make money. The photographers I look up to are able to use their models to enhance the product and the product to enhance the models.

Anna is great at moving her body into interesting, yet relaxed poses. When I'm working with her it's a collaboration. She brings ideas and movements to the shoot and I get to make micro adjustments til the photo composes itself around the elements we brought to play with.

I am more comfortable practicing composition than I am learning the technical skills of photography. Right now, I'm struggling to figure out how to make my photos look better.

Is it me or is it the camera?
Do I need a more expensive lens?
Or am I just not using the settings properly?

I want my images to feel gloriously, elegantly natural. And, I want them to make money.

It's the collaboration between model, camera, light, and product that creates something magical. And while beautiful work alone doesn't sell, they're part of the recipe.

What's more important: creativity and imagination or technical skills?👇 by @annakellyinframe
