A year ago today, fate (or maybe the cat distribution system!) intervened, and I was gifted my sweetest companion. My heart wasn’t searching, especially with my dear Ragnarrök still with us, but it knew what I needed even before I did. I welcomed her, and every day has been a joy learning her unique ways. Then, just a month later, we learned Ragnarrök’s journey was nearing its end. I spent those precious final weeks soaking up every moment. After he passed, little Freya Jane filled the void with her playful spirit. I truly believe she was divinely sent, arriving exactly when I needed her most, and that Ragnarrök held on until she arrived (coincidentally, freya has held onto his necklace every night..) Freya, you’ve become my confidante, the star of every story, and the most adorable little model a person could ask for. I love you endlessly. Yesterday morning I lost my best friend, my cuddle buddy, my sense of serenity, and so much more. You made me the happiest little girl, having grown up with you the past 15+ years. I’ll miss your midnight chirps for attention and our photoshoots.. I’ll miss your excitement to see my mom, our kitchen dances, and the way your paws looked like perfect little mittens. You’ve taught me so much in regard to unconditional love, purpose, and the importance of naps! I couldn’t feel more blessed to have called you mine for the majority of my life thus far. (You will always be my favorite Christmas gift and Viking!) I will miss you for the rest of my life but until I see you again, save me a seat.
