Changing perception is one thing. Giving people a reason to experience the place differently is another.

Extend the Weekend is a campaign and sub-brand designed to bring together music, culture, food, experiences and encourage visitors to stay longer to discover more of Berry NSW.

Part of the rebrand of Berry, it has similarities but also different enough to distinguish it as something else.

Consistency doesn’t mean everything looks the same.

It shouldn’t feel repetitive, but you should still know they’re part of the same brand.

This was about giving Berry NSW enough structure to feel recognisable, without taking away the personality and variety that make the place what it is.

Bringing the brand to life.

Taking everything established in the strategy and identity and applying it to the real world.

Say it consistently.

A brand can look consistent yet still feel completely different from one asset to the next.

For Berry NSW, we developed a set of messages that would work across campaigns, social, signage and marketing. Different messages, one clear idea for Berry.

That consistency is what helps a brand start to feel familiar.

Before designing, we needed to be clear on the bigger picture for the rebrand of Berry NSW.

Where was Berry heading?
Who did it need to connect with?
What did it want people to feel?
What did it need to achieve?

My approach to the strategy of Berry’s new visual Identity.

Less serious.
More contemporary.
Still unmistakably Berry NSW.

A new logo is only the beginning.

On its own, it doesn’t change how a town is perceived. The identity needs to work as part of a much bigger picture: the visuals, the messaging, the strategy, the campaigns. Everything people see and experience.

This is the new logo for @berrynsw as part of the rebrand I worked on. See how I integrated the logo as part of a new brand strategy and visual identity in the following posts.

The challenge I had with the rebrand of Berry was to evolve its positioning towards younger visitors, families and experience seekers. Without losing the character and nostalgia that made Berry special.
