Sometimes a mom just knows. ❤️

After a couple of phone conversations, I knew I needed to put feet on the ground in Iowa and see Kaitlyn.

It was a whirlwind of a surprise trip, but I got to watch her perform with the Iowa State University College Football Varsity Marching Band at an exhibition in Pella — in the rain and all! ☔️ — and then took in the volleyball game yesterday to watch her with the pep band.

I stocked her fridge, loved on her, gave her some much-needed mom time, and then headed home.

I rolled back in at home at 3 this morning, but honestly… surprising her and giving her the love she needed right now made every mile, the late night, and every bit of the whirlwind completely worth it.

Sometimes they don’t need you to fix anything. They just need their mom. And sometimes, a mom just knows. ❤️ by @annamusette

So even the best-laid plans fail.

We’re headed to Oregon to drop Natalie off at school, but apparently we’re on the Plan F version for this trip.

The original plan? Get her a car, pack up for an epic cross-country glamping adventure, hit some National Parks, make a million memories, and eventually deliver her to Oregon.

Instead, the car decided it was having a midlife crisis and broke down. 😐

We held out hope that we could get it fixed in time. Then those hopes diminished. And finally, they completely fizzled.

So… here we are. Last-minute plane tickets, a rental car, five suitcases, and absolutely none of the trip we planned. 😂

The last two weeks have somehow felt like an entire year, and honestly, if it could have gone wrong, it probably did. But sometimes you just have to roll with it, change the plan, and keep moving. Suck it up buttercup, if you will.

So send some good vibes our way. We’re off to Oregon, and hopefully Plan F is the one that sticks. ✈️❤️

Jack-Jack, aka Princess, Pissy-pants, Jackass, Pain in the Jack, Jerk-jerk, Jackrabbit and a thousand other names, crossed over the rainbow bridge last night. He was the perfect blend of crazy and fit our family perfectly. He was Natalie’s cat without a doubt. He figured out how to climb in and out of the bunk bed so he could sleep with her, had more by bow ties than any man I know, was blind in one eye and could make the quintessential loaf. He was the perfect blend of sweet and complete and total pain in the rear. He will be greatly missed. 💔🌈 by @annamusette

A great weekend in Iowa watching Kaitlyn do her thing. Go State! 💛❤️

In a season of my life where things have felt more wrong than right, these three will always be right. They’re sweet, sassy, snarky, and 100% my world.

Perfect? Absolutely not. And they don’t need to be.

It’s about choosing them in all the chaos, through every season, on the good days and the hard ones. Loving them, claiming them, and standing beside them—all of it, all the time.

We lost our cat Mama last night. 😢 13 years ago she showed up on our deck homeless and pregnant. We called her Daisy, and took her in. We ended up at the vet because her delivery went bad and they said either emergency surgery to save her or we should put her down. She was purring so loud, how could we put her down? She was always very vocal and ruled the roost. She had no understanding of personal space and ended up a bit chunky so we ended up calling her Big Mama. She was the sweetest cat and will be greatly missed. Rest easy big girl, we love you! 🩷 by @annamusette

Something about the baby hits a little different. Haley, I am so very proud of you. You’ve always marched to the beat of your drum and now I’m excited to watch the next chapter of your life. Go get ‘em kid. Congratulations to the School of the Osage class of 2026. And thank you to the sweetest cheering section. Life has been something lately. Overwhelming in both the good and bad ways. Today I’m taking a pause on the chaos to brag. Weight for me is so much more than a number, and I celebrate lots of non scale victories. But today, I stepped on the scale as I do every Sunday and the number was 100 pounds lower than my heaviest. Triple digit weight loss. That’s crazy and I am so proud of me. It’s taken 2 years, a whole lot of work, self reflection and tons of dancing. I’ve still got a way to go, but for now I’ll celebrate this moment and keep going! by @annamusette
