Finishing my first half marathon calls for a celebration! ;)

About 12ish weeks ago, I started training for the Chicago Half Marathon. It was something I had challenged myself to do in 2026. To be honest, it wasn’t easy. My schedule got hectic and finding time to run became harder and harder. However, crossing the finish line made every ounce of hard work worth it. My only goal was to finish and somehow, I finished in 2 hours and 14 minutes.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

I met Charlie for the first time in 2023. My dad practically forced me to introduce myself because I was too shy to do it. I didn’t know what to say other than thank him for everything he has done for our generation (& tell him that I loved Alex Clark). I had always seen him speak at events and admired his confidence and willingness to speak truth. He knew the Bible better than most pastors.

This summer, I’ve had the privilege to sit in the same room as him and shake his hand many times. I made the joke that someday he would remember me. Charlie gave me hope for the future - that someday, when I had kids, they would be able to live in the greatest country in the world and be protected. Now it’s in my hands to carry on that hope and legacy.

My heart is broken for his wife and children.

Thank you, Jesus, for giving us Charlie, even for a short time. by @annaodance
