Anna Priluka’s ‘Southern Ocean Scavenger (Antipodes Islands Ecosystem)’ is a celebration of the plethora of thriving plant and wildlife in the Subantarctic Islands.

Continually drawing inspiration from the natural world, Anna is fascinated with the ecological diversity of the Subantarctic Islands. In ‘Southern Ocean Scavenger’ she explores her perception of thriving flora and fauna, weaving art and biology together with a sense of the sacred. And while not necessarily painted to scale, ‘Southern Ocean Scavenger’ brings together an amalgamation of plant and animal life in a fantastically believable scene; foregoing her usual eyecatching scale manipulation and geometric mirroring tropes for something more familiar. Anna aims to “enter into conversation with this magnificent and animate web of existence, in which we are but tiny strands.”

Anna extends her thanks to conservation biologist, Robin Long, who worked on the Antipodes Islands earlier this year as part of the Tawaki Project, and kindly shared her experience and reference photos, of plants and insects, as resource material..

Goodbye Wally! 🧡
You were the bestest goodest girl.
Wally had been sick for a few days and a trip to the vet turned into a diagnosis of liver faliure. She passed away peacefully, in my arms, at home in the sun on Tuesday after I made the hardest decision to not let her suffer.
I tucked her in one last time in the most beautiful spot, overlooking our favourite beach.
It was all very sudden and I don't really have words for how sad I am, and also how grateful to spend the last 10 years with you being your human 🧡🌿🤗
I tried to get a nice picture of us together for 10 years and one of us always messed it up 😅 Heres our latest attempt. It was one of many good days.
Feeling blessed for the beautiful support and thankful for all Wallies friends over the years.

Making big arts on the floor 🌿🧡☺️

Finding my years as a canvas machinist coming in handy to create these large canvas/tarps to paint on
All 4 paintings so far have turned out surprisingly weather/damage proof, surviving multiple festivals and 3 weeks out in the elements last year @illuminatelightshownz
