Yesterday I met a friend for coffee.

We laughed, caught up & exchanged prayer requests. When I opened up about some of my recent battles, she was shocked.
 “Wow, I never thought you would struggle. It looks like you have it all together.”

I wasn’t offended—I was convicted.
How often do I assume others are thriving just because it looks that way? Especially in the Christian world, it’s easy to assume people are always on the mountain top since that’s mostly all we see.

Lately, God’s done some pretty amazing things in my life, and that’s usually what I share on here. But what Instagram hasn’t seen are the tears, doubts, and moments of soul-deep exhaustion.
I’ve learned that both the mountain tops and the valleys are crucial parts of a walk with Christ.

So here’s your reminder: no one’s life is perfect. Not mine, not your favorite speaker’s or influencer’s. But though happiness isn’t a constant in life, there’s a joy that is. And that joy comes from gazing beyond our own imperfect circumstances and looking at perfection itself— Jesus.

And that, my friends, is the joy of the Lord.

There are some people who leave this world noticeably brighter, and my friend Kate was one of them.

The first to celebrate someone else’s win. The first to make you laugh in any situation. The first to jump in and help, serve, or give of herself so someone else could shine.

Even through her cancer diagnosis, her joy never changed. That kind of joy can only come from one source—the Lord.

Saturday morning, Kate got to hear the words I hope to hear one day: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Whether you knew her or not, Kate was the definition of joy. She was sunshine in human form. She was yellow, and she leaves behind yellow paint strokes on every life she touched. 💛

In college, I danced for her. In life, I’ll carry her example with me—remembering what true joy in the midst of hardship looks like.

I share this as an encouragement to you and to myself: live more like Kate. Unfazed by the trials of this world and tethered to the joy available in each day—a joy rooted in Christ, not circumstances.

I looked up the origin of the word “VALENTINE” and honestly, it humbled me.

The word traces back to Saint Valentine, a believer remembered for holding to his faith and love even unto death. On a day all about love, this reminded me of how radical true love actually is.

That’s who our Savior is. And that’s what He did.

So whatever today looks like for you, flowers, a date, healing, or just a normal Saturday, don’t forget this:

The God of all creation looked at you and decided,
“YOU are worth dying for.”

That’s the kind of love we’re celebrating. Not surface. Not temporary. Not earned.

Radical. Reckless. Given freely.

Yesterday I shared an encouragement over on the @liveoriginal page, and after hearing so many testimonies already, I knew it needed a permanent spot here too 🤍

If you’re in a season of waiting and God seems silent, don’t lose heart. God’s delay doesn’t mean He’s disappeared — it just means He’s developing you for the very thing you’ve been praying for.

And trust me, I’m NO fan of waiting… who is? Still, one thing I know: He loves you too much to hand you a blessing you’re not ready to hold.

In my own story, I’ve learned what it’s like to wait on the Lord — and in many ways, I still am. So if that’s you, you’re not alone 🫶🏼
