If you’re joining us at @sushoriuchi, you’ll get the pleasant addition of @annatranchef who is very much part of the space as @chefhorikata. And yes, she’s just as particular about the minutia of details for this 6-seater omakase.

Chef Anna’s path to the kitchen started early. Growing up she cooked alongside her grandmother, who owned a restaurant in Kansas City, which ultimately developed her insatiable love for food and a genuine desire to nourish people through it. And then her introduction to sushi came at just eight years old, a moment that quietly set the direction for everything that followed.

Now at Sushi Horiuchi, Chef Anna is deep in her element. She appreciates the intimacy this small space brings, emphasizing, “I love getting to know guests, taking care of them, and sharing the story behind what’s being served and sourced. And it’s especially meaningful when Chef Hori invites me to collaborate on the menu.” All of this is genuinely fascinating for her, as she believes most people are curious about how food makes it to the plate.

Chef Hori believes it’s vitally important to guide the next generation of sushi chefs, budding with talent, to extend the legacy of the experiences and mastery of skills he’s brought to Houston. That’s why he finds so much pride in Chef Anna who brings her own warmth to this space.
