We got Make It Cute into over 700 stores nationwide!!! Because I love hearing a good business development story I thought I’d share here how it happened. Plus, I’m still mentally trained to be filling out HTH in salesforce IYKYK 😂

As part of our product development process we have constant conversations with hundreds of customers (plus a small concentrated group of incredible humans called Make It Cute champions ❤️) and one of the things we learned is that they want projects to do with their kids that are display-worthy and they don’t feel like they need to throw out 😊

At the same time, I had just visited Barnes & Noble and a bookseller there told me their customers love projects but they needed some that were more appropriate for little kids.

So we got to work on developing cute paper-based (less plastic!) craft kits and specifically made a Bookshop in the hopes that B&N would pick it up.

As soon as we had our first samples, used my skills from my former life and went HAM on LinkedIn. After weeks of outreach, finally got directed to the right email addresses. Took some more follow-ups and eventually got a direct buyer response with an address to send samples to!

The kids helped me scramble to pull together a “professionally” packed box (in quotes bc you know how things go when kids are involved) and sprinted to ups before it closed to go out for overnight delivery!

After a few follow ups and the buyer confirmed they tried them out and liked them :)

Jumped in the air because we literally designed it with them in mind and they were going to buy it!! Now insert the BILLIONS of other, much harder, steps outside of just biz dev that this incredible team of badass WOMEN accomplished to get these items designed, developed, manufactured and physically on shelves-Maureen, Seyf, Hannah, Jackie, Kelly, Brooke, Jenny, Sophia, Sarah & Hailey❤️to you all. Thank you, B&N, means the world.

We are inviting you to take part in one of our yearly spring traditions! 🌸

Every year, my kids and I plant dahlia tubers after the last frost. In the fall, the dahlias are beautifully flowering, providing several bouquets that we pass out to our neighbors.

The best part is that every tuber has a beautiful life cycle that is ready to give again for years to come. We dig up the tubers, tuck them away for winter, and they’re ready to give all over again the next year.

This year, we wanted to share that cycle with you. We picked up some extra tubers to send out as Earth Day gifts so you can start a tradition of your own. 🌍

March is a time to celebrate the strength and victories of women everywhere… that we are where we are because of the generations of women before us. The women and mothers who sacrified so much and fought so hard to make a world more kind and inclusive than when they found it.

And when we look around the room, in an industry dedicated to the future generation, it’s no coincidence that women and mothers are the ones filling it.

Today and everyday, we are so grateful to be surrounded by the women that fill these rooms. Happy International Women’s Day to the village that makes it all happen. 🥂✨

Philadelphia will always hold a special place in our hearts. 💛

Pennsylvania is where I grew up and where I met my best friends, Amanda and Maureen. None of us could have imagined that years later…as more than best friends, but co-founders, we would get to bring Make It Cute here together.

The Make It Cute™ Playhouse Experience at The Bellevue Hotel feels like a home away from home for all of us. We hope it feels the same way for you too.
