As I celebrated another trip around the sun yesterday, it got me thinking of where the first 40(ish) ones took me… so here’s a little journey down memory lane.

Grateful for the twists & turns of life.
For the healthy body that allows such adventures.
For the choices that opened these paths.
For the people who have walked them by my sides.

Naturally this doesn’t tell the whole story, even though it feels a bit vulnerable to share so much of it at once - but I think you’ll learn a thing or two about my journey…✨

Thank you all for the birthday wishes 🙏🏼 Feeling ready for the new cycle ahead 🪐

With love always,
Anne 💛

---- Edit - the irony of the slide that didn't upload... 🙈
At 37 I took over & renovated a 2nd yoga studio, making my vision to build a brand bigger than myself a reality - I also lost a bunch of money, close friends & my mental health in the process, realising once more, this wasn’t my version of success.
the same year I experienced my biggest disillusions in the yoga world & considered stopping everything. ---- by @anne_eberhardt_

// EDUCATOR //
Over my years of teaching in yoga trainings (both at @bubble.yoga and as a guest in other programs), as well as offering seminars and courses at universities and corporations, I’ve learned what my strengths are as an educator.

✨Simplifying complexity - Whether it’s anatomy, neuroscience, philosophy or teaching methods, I’m good at breaking down complex topics into simple, relatable examples. I love using analogies or visuals to make theory come alive and easier to grasp.

✨Reading the room and adapting - Learning is an active process. If I notice the energy in the room dipping, I’ll pivot to another teaching method or topic to re-engage the group. That’s why I don’t share the detailed schedule of my trainings - everything gets covered, but I keep the flexibility to change my plan as needed.

✨I don’t gate keep - I like being generous in my teaching & share everything I know that I believe can serve the people I’m working with.

✨Honest and non-dogmatic: If I don’t know, I’ll tell you & research further. If I make a mistake, I’ll come back & correct what I said/wrote. When relevant, I’ll make a clear distinction between what is a fact & what is a personal opinion/choice. My goal isn’t to train mini-me’s, but to have people form their own thoughts & habit to ask Why.

✨I understand that different people learn in different ways, so I mix methods. In my trainings, you’ll listen, write, ask questions, present to others, receive 1:1 feedback, give feedback, play games, read, draw, experience, observe… using a variety of methods that will support the understanding & integration of information for ALL.

Oh and also, I design kick-ass training manuals 📖😜 (my students’ words!) that are inclusive, thorough, visually engaging & don’t come with an overwhelming reading list…

It’s a bit strange to write this & toot my own horn, but with my 2025 trainings starting soon, I’m excited to share these journeys with you. Ultimately, I believe my biggest strength is that I absolutely LOVE to pass on knowledge & be the witness of others’ growth!🤩

Today is a celebration of so many things that are meaningful to me: International Yoga Day of course, but also in France, it is the Day of Music & Father’s day.

And somehow in my world, these 3 things collide on a daily basis… a yoga studio always filled with music & built with love with my Dad.

My father was the kind of man who would come along with me on my 1st paragliding tandem flight when I was 13, even tho he had strong fear of heights. His taste in music & love for cars shaped my own love for music & F1, along with so many other things.

He is also the man who taught me everything about DIY work, renovations, electricity etc.. And when I called him 7 years ago to say I had found the perfect place for the next chapter of Bubble Yoga but it needed to be fully renovated, he didn’t hesitate to commit most of his summer holidays to come to Switzerland (along with my Mum) & make it happen together.
So naturally, his presence is always very strong in this space & I love looking around & feeling that even tho he isn’t here anymore, he’s always there.✨

Yoga didn’t mean much to him. But my dreams did.

So today, as I celebrate my love & gratitude for yoga, blast music around & think of my beloved Dad, I also want to celebrate all the wonderful fathers I witness in my life who are doing their best to support their kid’s dreams. It matters more than you know.

Happy Solstice friends,

// YOGA & ART?
The other day I ended up in this corner of Zurich main station I hadn’t been to in a while (slide 2). Where most people would see just a random public space, it immediately took me back to @fredericvanhecke & I’s favourite playground.

It all started almost 10 years ago with a random improvised photoshoot a few hours after we met. Late Sunday night. Everything closed. « Let’s go to the train station, there will be lighting! ». We immediately knew we had found an environment that what right for us; and that there was something fun we could create together. His camera. My practice. Urban lines. B&W pics.
A few more spontaneous shoots over the years added to the collection, contributing to Fred’s ‘Project Y’.

Looking back at the pictures this week made me reflect on the relationship between yoga & art.
Can yoga become art?
If we seek aesthetics in poses, are we loosing the essence of what yoga is?
Art is about expression & communication.
Yoga is about self-inquiry & awareness.
So what happens when a yoga practice becomes a medium for creative expression?

A painter has a brush; a musician has an instrument… Could a yogi use their body to create beauty, catch our attention, or evoke a sense of presence in the midst of our busy urban environments? Or does the pose become a random circus shape the moment it gets captured by the camera?

When Fred won an award with a photography magazine (that pic on slide 7 ;), the article referred to me as a ‘female athlete’ & I remember being taken aback by the label… an athlete practices a sport, & as physical as yoga can be, it’ll never feel like sports to me. Had we taken the yoga away the moment we decided to shoot the shot?!

We know yoga isn’t the pose. But can the pose be used to display the aesthetic of movement, without diminishing the deeper dimension of the practice?
And also, what happens when we place elements of this mindful practice in unexpected places?

Clearly I don’t have answers here, but I think the convo can be interesting… what’re your thoughts on it?!

Either way, these shoots were defo my favourite ones & I love the creative exploration they brought - miss you mon Fred 🖤.

Love,

This week in my DMs I received what is for me one of the most touching feedback I can get as a teacher (the sender kinder consented to my sharing so swipe to read 🙏🏼).

I’ve always said that my WHY (in work & life) is to create space for others so they can show up in world as their most genuine selves.
The premise of this is that it begins with me doing the same.
I’m kind of a ‘what you see is what you get’ person & teacher. I’m not good at faking it or putting a facade on. Frankly it exhausts me.

But especially when it comes to teaching yoga & meditation, I’m the person thru which you experience the practice. Yoga doesn’t need me to put on a show or build a character to bring it to you. Quite the opposite in fact. The more I get out of the way, the more the experience of the practice can land.

So indeed, you’ll get my messy hair, my spontaneous jokes (you know they’re good tho!), sometimes random outfits when I can’t be bothered to put on leggings. Mostly, you’ll get my thoughtful presence - because teaching is when I’m most HERE - and genuine joy to share a practice I deeply care about.

Of course when I’m in front of the room, it’s inevitable that I’m then in the role of a teacher - and pretending it doesn’t come with a particular dynamic would be a lie. But I can be professional without losing sight of who I am. I can show myself truthfully & still respect the boundaries of a teaching environment.

If you come to my classes or trainings, feel seen there & that you can ‘just’ be yourself, that’s a win in my books.
Thank you for seeing me too.🙏🏼✨

Wishing you a week of walking into spaces that let you be yourself 😘

When was the last time you truly listened to music, not while driving or cooking or running or else?
Just listening. No doing.

👉🏼Here’s my mindfulness practice recommendation for this weekend: pick a song you love, one you haven’t heard in a while, one you recently discovered or even try something new. Lay on the floor (trust me). Turn the volume up (like, for real 🎧). Just. Listen. Let yourself feel the feels for 3-5min.

So many people tell me they struggle to meditate. Mindfulness is 1. Placing purposeful attention; 2. Onto something in the present moment; 3. Without judgement. So while what I call ‘music meditations’ are not formal meditation practice, I believe they are powerful mindfulness moments that stop time & allow you to feel. I use them all the time with my teens & Uni students - always a win.

Your turn.

✨If you’re not sure what to play, comment here or hit my DMs with the mood you wanna feel, I’ll send you a song 😉😘

With love,
Anne 🖤🎶 taken in Bubble Yoga by @anne_eberhardt_

Some parts of my work just hit differently.

Joining @cancersupport.ch is more than a heart project, it’s a perfect alignment in values & mission. A way to give back for the support that my family & myself have received then & there. To give meaning to the still absurd loss of my Dad. To share what I know & do best with other families & individuals.

Sometimes you meet people & it just clicks. Few things have felt as right in the past years as they’ve felt when I first met the team of CASS & I’m so grateful for their trust taking me on board to join the new team in Zürich. 🙏🏼

👉🏽 New (free!) yoga classes for people affected by cancer start next Monday afternoon - if you know anyone this could help, please share! And if you want to support an organisation that does truly impactful work, your donations go a long way.✨

You can DM me to know more!

I also want to thank @thesoulspace.ch for supporting me on this project - I’m glad that I get to bring this class to my yoga home in Z-town ☺️

With love,
Anne 💛🦀

🧘🏼‍♀️The aftermath of 4 days home silent meditation retreat✨

After years of going for silent meditation retreats in a beautiful place in central Switzerland, last year I experimented with shaping my own at home. I loved it so much I decided to do it again this year.
Now let’s be clear, this is VERY different than formal retreats & I will definitely continue going for them on a regular basis.

What I love with shaping my own silent journey is that it makes me reflect ahead of time - what do I want from this? Need from this? Then I make a programme for each day, prepare playlists of yoga & meditation classes, meal plan… I don’t necessarily follow the plan to the minute, but I find having a frame important. It helps get rid of the mental load too, to stick to daily yoga & multiple meditations.

Although I switch my phone off completely it’s not a ‘digital detox’ per se as I keep using my laptop to access the meditation & yoga recordings thru the days. This year, there was some music moments too. Everything else is off.

So what were these days made of?
Meditating. Reading. Painting. Cooking. Journaling. Sleeping. Yoga-ing. Thinking. Resting. Sorting old letter boxes (more on that later).
And there actually was a concert night out in the midst of it too - more on that later too!😉

In the end I realised these days were about one thing: listening.✨
To myself. My body, thoughts & feels. Words of others. Music. Silence.
These silent escapes immersed in practice & slowness are a bit hard to come out of, hard to really explain in a post but what I’ll say is that this time brought many insights & ignited my wish to write again… so to my patient friends over on the Substack channel, more will come back there soon.🙏🏼 ✍🏼

With love,
Anne💛

Lerne Anne kennen 🧘‍♀️✨

Going to sleep in freshly cleaned sheets
Stepping into fresh snow
Summer rain smell
Slow kisses
First downdog after weeks off the mat
My niece’s laughter
Waking up to the sight of my favourite mountains
First notes of a new song I instantly love
First notes of an old song I’ve always loved
Crèpes’ smell from the kitchen
Warm shower after a long hiking day
The scent of an old book
The scent of a new book
Dark chocolate melting on the tongue
Hearing their heartbeat thru a warm hug
Sunlight & shadows landing on the piano
…

Life happens in the moments.
It is captured through our senses.
Heard. Seen. Touched. Tasted. Smelled.
Felt.

Unless we let the moments pass us by.
Miss out on the little things.

Mindfulness isn’t the must-have skill one needs to acquire by today’s society standards.
It is the practice that allows us to marvel at life’s constant beauty. To tune in to all that there is to feel. To savour the little things that add up to bigger things.

👉🏼 What would you put on your list of little things that add glimpses of special to your days?

Love,
Anne💛

PS: I’ve always been a big reader of Philipp Delerm’s books for how he poetically captures the little things, starting with his most famous « La 1ere gorgée de bière & autres plaisirs minuscules » (= the 1st sip of beer & other tiny pleasures) - swipe if you wanna hear his words, pardon my French tho ☺️🍺 by @anne_eberhardt_
