Happy birthday mom 💕 everyone has been thinking of you. @shangal8 and I have been trying to maintain your garden as best we can. We’ve been cooking outside and taking Julie on long walks. We’ll make something nice for your birthday, maybe a lovely white fish and something just a little sweet. We’ll make sure the plate is full of color, just like you always said. We miss you and love you so much 🌼🌺🪻

P.S. In the first picture, I insisted on hiking a very long trail up a mountain in my pretty new yellow dress and Mom let me do it.
In the second picture, you see the very beginnings of Chef Anne Gallagher. Mom and I would load up her old Subaru with fresh bread every Saturday and go to the market. My Nana Nocci is there helping on this particular day. It was my very first job at the ripe age of 12~. I was in charge of the cash box and had never felt such power in my life.

Please join @kerryrg and me in honoring our mother, Anne Gallagher. We will be holding a celebration of life on May 10, 2025 at the Morris Town Beach pavilion, from 1 - 4 pm. Light refreshments will be served. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone and hearing stories from Mom’s friends and family. Please share with those you may know are close to Mom.

We know Mom has many friends in the catering industry, so if anyone wants to offer up their skills for this event, please let us know. Kerry and I can be contacted directly or via the email address on the invitation. by @annegallagher24

Our mom, Anne, passed away peacefully at home on Wed, Jan 22nd. After a nearly ten year battle with metastatic breast cancer, she was finally set free.

Mom found her path late in life, enrolling in culinary school in her 40s. She worked her butt off, graduating with a degree from the Natural Gourmet. After that, she hit the ground running. She grew her successful company, Anne Gallagher Catering, specializing in local and seasonal food. Her prowess in the field was recognized when she was invited to the White House by Michelle Obama for the launch of Chefs Move to School. On the local level, Mom co-founded Plow to Plate, a program that connects farmers, medical professionals, & chefs in the mission to advocate disease prevention via healthy food. This program is still in place today at New Milford Hospital. As culinary educator for Yale-New Haven Mental Health Center, she touched many lives, teaching outpatients to cook & navigate the kitchen. She was an incredible chef & accomplished culinary pioneer.

At her core, our Mom was a creative spirit. She adored nature & animals, & loved doodling little pictures of her flowers. In the past year, she started metal smithing & fell in love with it. Mom was also fond of writing poems, particularly as she was processing difficult moments. As her life slowly filled with only difficult moments, the poems & drawings & even cooking diminished. We treasured all those things, so we were happy when one of her brothers shared a cautiously hopeful poem she wrote in May:

Eyes wide open as I sit on the precipice of eternity,
Arms outstretched, heart open.
It is a big cliff I know,
Exhilarating as I swing my legs over the edge.
I feel alive.
Yes I am scared, but I am also giddy
With what will happen next.
What a climb it has been.

Mom always said, “Please never think of me as dying, always think of me as living.” We ask of you the same thing. Please think of Annie as living. Living in the hydrangea bushes, & in the red cardinals in the sky, & in the next meal you make to nourish your body & soul.

Per Mom’s wishes, there will be a celebration of life on May 10 from 1-4 pm at the Morris Town Beach Pavilion. All are welcome. by @annegallagher24

They are both gone and my brothers and I and our kids miss them every day. We always have a funny grandpa story to tell or how much my mom and dad loved all their grandkids. We miss them by @annegallagher24
