'A Small Celebration '

Fragments Rediscovered.
Scavenged Treasures.
Fibres Repurposed.
Beauty Reborn

A reminder that not every celebration needs a fanfare and confetti.
Sometimes two fingers in the air will do.

THE SHAPE NIGHTFALL

I was right!
This piece did become a cityscape, evoking the rhythm and allure of city nightlife — dining, theatre, and the luminous interplay of glamour and darkness.

Through hand-felting, stitching, knitting
and sewing with entirely repurposed materials, I translate the textures of light, reflection and shadow into sculptural form. Metallic threads and layered fabrics echo architecture and movement.

The work embodies continuity and transformation,
revealing how urban energy can be reimagined through sustainable making and tactile
memory.

'Party Trick'

Hand sculpted entirely from repurposed materials, this piece follows my ongoing fascination with material memory and transformation.

I work without a strict plan, letting the materials lead the process. The result?
A rather impressive party trick that no actual hand could replicate.

The Shape of Slow Time '

Hand felting, stitching and knitting entirely repurposed materials, I have crafted opposing textures in varied tones, mapping Australia’s magnificent geology, and without thoughts of political influences, our layered and flourishing human story.

The contradiction and harmony of infinite skies and endless oceans, harsh outback earth and rock, luscious rainforest and sculptural native bush, inland waters that disect and connect.

Circular and correct from every angle, this piece turns on and around with no beginning and no end, embodying continuity, memory and endurance.

THE UPCYCLED DUCHESS

Once upon a time, a forgotten porcelain doll head met a pile of discarded threads, beads and cloth.
A Duchess was reborn.

Sculpted entirely from repurposed materials, this embroidered textile beauty stitches together fragments of the past with a playful nod to the present.

Rescued from the scrap basket.
Part heirloom, part rebellion, part treasure, all Class.
And she knows it.

As sculptural exploration of memory through tactile form.
This piece is completely hand-sculpted and hand-embroidered from repurposed textiles. Linen, cotton, wool and silk come together to weave past histories into a curious new presence.

'I Know Things '
Linen, cotton, wool, glass beads
77 x 28 x 28cm

Creating spacial presence.
It means making a character so tangible that it alters the room it lives in.

It's the illusion of life. Textures that demand you look. Forms that hold their own space.

She was always a cute bunny.
But then she got her Big Girl on!
She has never looked back.
They tell me who they are - I just sew. And Love It ❤️

A Late Bloomer, you might say.

I had a long career in the world of interiors which nourished my creativity, my intellect, my curiosity and my ambition. It created and fed my passion for textiles, established my need and ability to make, taught me life skills and people skills, what a heady risk taker undertakes and so much more.
And I loved it.

But it never truly scratched my artist itch.
I didn't begin to explore that until well into my 50s, but I've given it a good nudge since.

Ceramic sculpture was where I started and it was a surprise I didn't see coming, as was abstract painting, whereas portraiture felt natural after years of visualising, creating and documenting details.
Wet felting crept in there, which I had wanted to learn for ages, and then, full circle, and just like that, I am back luxuriating in textiles and threads and beads and feathers and wire and leather and crystal and, and .... swoon...... Back where I now know I belong.

The arena has changed a bit, as has the end product. But what hasn't changed is wanting, no needing to do things differently; plunging in armed only with intuition, enthusiasm and trust in my process; being guided by the feelings and voices that come with salvaged materials and family ghosts who missed their chance to do as I now do.

I have never been sure if it is bravery or stupidity that drives me, but I am now sure that my path is true.
Lucky Me hey?

By request - meet this blue eyed, happy chappy!
The more I stitched, the more determined he was to appear. Fibres hold history and memories and they love to get a second chance.

Available to puchase.

No more poodle. No more sheep. Am ignoring the duck comparisons - they will definitely be stitched out.
Maybe this one is meant to be animal?
Not sure - it's starting to feel a little be after dark glamourous to me ... hmmm.

Available. DM to purchase or commission.
