We’re opening up the studio doors (after a thorough clean!) for our annual Winter Shop and Open Studio, as part of @leithcreativetrail ✨ Check out @leithcreativetrail socials for more info. There are so many fantastic makers and artists opening their doors for these two weekends. A map is coming soon too to help find them all. At Portland St we’ll have mulled wine, Christmas tunes, 1000s of fairy lights and plenty of seasonal cheer. And weather permitting we’ll have a seconds and samples sale in the courtyard too. Last bits of packing ready for @potfest.co.uk in Penrith market... little candlesticks to light the darker evenings and adorn a winter table. It's been two years since I last did this market, and it was my very first proper market too... packing for this one feels like a moment to see both how far I've come and to feel grateful for all the great people who have cheered me along the way. ✨Two for the price of one!✨ JJ’s been busy making not one but two gorgeous signs for Leith’s @portlandstreetpottery. 🪵Using oak, reclaimed from our metal warehouse excavation, the slabs were flattened and edges jointed using our @feldergroupuk AD941 planer. 🎨The studio’s logo was then precision-engraved on the @trendtoolscnc SmartBench and brought to life with a crisp coat of white paint, which was sanded back to make the logo stand out against the warm oak grain. However the heat has clearly gotten to him! The first one turned out round (oops!) - beautiful, but not what ceramic artists Ailsa Ferris @roadsidepicnicceramics & Anne Wilson @annewilsonart had in mind. So JJ quickly whipped up the perfect and intended shape using offcuts of the original material. His verdict? “I did it right because I did it twice.” 💪 Join Ailsa and Anne at Portland Street Pottery this Saturday and Sunday (11am-4pm) for an Open Door Studio where you can chat to the artists, view all their beautiful ceramics, and - of course - see the new sign in person. It's our summer open studio here @portlandstreetpottery this weekend and after a day of sorting and cleaning it's all looking pretty good. @roadsidepicnicceramics made some fab window boxes, and we put up our lovely new sign... made by @edinburghopenworkshop (more of that later.) We'll have some icy cool drinks and lovely pottery to peruse, with a little selection of seconds too. Open Saturday and Sunday 11 to 4pm 81 - 85 Portland Street by @annewilsonart
