Grief is weird. I always feel a bit sentimental on September 25th (so forgive me for this long ass post). 11 years without you and in many ways it still feels like yesterday, even though you’ve been gone for every major milestone in my teenage & adult life.

Grief never, ever goes away, and it often flares up at the weirdest of times. Recent months have been some of those times.

It’s wild to think of all that I’ve experienced without a mom. I’m not even remotely the same person. I don’t think I’ll ever stop grieving that kind of loss, because it’s a consistent, ever-present kind of loss. Even when I’m old I’ll still be thinking of the ‘what could have beens.’ But for now, I just try to live in a way that I hope she would be proud of.

I hope everyone who knew her still remembers the amazing, funny person she was. Thank you all for the continued grief support over the years and sharing memories of her. She really was just the absolute best mom a kid could ever have, and I’m so grateful I had her for some of my childhood.
