I am grateful to those that helped me and acted that day. I will never forget this incident despite me being out of this unhealthy relationship for so many years. I do hope me sharing this will encourage all to know what unique position you are in to make a difference to someone’s life. For me this sparked a ripple effect of change in how I understood the part that I played in the unhealthy relationship, sought support and also accepted support.

🇲🇱❤️ Some journeys are about more than travelling—they’re about coming home.

It was such an honour to attend the @forum_diaspora_ml in Bamako, bringing together Malians living across the world to connect, share our expertise and explore how we can contribute to the future of Mali.

Organised by the Government of Mali and LIOM, this was my first opportunity to experience an event like this in my homeland. As someone born in Mali but who grew up away from my roots, being here has been deeply emotional. Every conversation, every connection and every moment has helped me understand a little more the direction my purpose is lead me to this moment.

I couldn’t help but think about my late mother throughout the Forum. She carried Mali with her wherever she went, and I know she would be incredibly proud to see me walking this path. In many ways, this journey feels like a way of reconnecting with her, honouring her legacy and continuing the values she passed on to me.

One of my biggest dreams is to bring @amourdestine home to Mali—creating culturally rooted, survivor-led support for women and girls. To be taking steps towards that dream, in the country where my story began, is something I will never take for granted.

This feels like the beginning of a new chapter. One built on purpose, service, belonging and giving back to the land that gave me life.

Alhamdulillah for every step of this journey. 🤲🏾 May Allah guide it, bless it and allow it to benefit generations to come.

What a beautiful way to end such a special day 💛

This morning began with some incredible news—a call from our Reaching Communities Funding Manager @tnlcommunityfund to let me know that our service will be supported for another three years. I can’t quite put into words what that means 😭 for our team @amourdestine the women and girls we support, and the future of our work Alhamdulillah 🤲🏾

The day ended with this thoughtful gift from @safelives_, recognising myself and my pioneer sisters Shana & Dipty for five years and Ursula ten years as a SafeLives Pioneer 🤲🏾🌱

I’m so grateful for everything we’ve been able to achieve together in solidarity over the past five years. It was also wonderful to spend time with my Pioneer sisters today—sharing stories, reflecting on our journeys, and encouraging one another to keep pushing for change ✊🏾

To everyone at SafeLives, thank you for your continued support, belief and partnership. You are all phenomenal 💛

The work isn’t finished, but days like today are a reminder to pause, give thanks, and keep going. Together, we will continue creating safer futures for survivors, families and communities 🌱💛

Today I did something small, but meaningful—I took the cable car on my own for the first time! 🤗 Usually I’m travelling with someone else, so it felt like a little reminder that growth often comes through stepping outside our comfort zones.

A huge thank you to Andrea Simon , @ldnvictimscomm , for establishing the new Victims’ Reference Group for London. I’m honoured to have been invited to join and representing @amourdestine alongside so many inspiring organisations and survivor leaders.

May Allah grant you wisdom, strength and success as you lead this important work towards a stronger response for victims across London. ✊🏾

It was encouraging to hear from colleagues across the @ukhomeoffice and @mojgovuk , and, more importantly, to know that the voices of survivors and specialist organisations are being heard.

I don’t take opportunity like this for granted super grateful for the opportunity to raise the ongoing need for:

• Better access to specialist support for migrant victims.
• Greater recognition of the needs of care-experienced survivors.
• Ring-fenced commissioning for specialist “by and for” organisations, whose expertise and lived experience are essential to delivering culturally responsive support.

Every conversation like this is another step towards safer, fairer systems for those who need them most in London!

🌙✨ Reminiscing and wondering which photo to choose to sum up my year, but perhaps this one says more than I realised.

What a year it has been — a year of ups and downs, challenges and blessings, growth and reflection. Through it all, Allah has carried me.

As this Islamic year comes to an end, we say Alhamdulillah. For the blessings we recognised and those we didn’t. For the prayers answered, the lessons learned, and the strength to keep going.

As we enter a new year, we say Bismillah.

Whatever you may be lacking, may you never be far from trusting Allah. May He provide for you in ways you could never imagine and send the right people into your life at the right time.

May we be among those whom Allah loves, guided by faith, gratitude, mercy, and purpose.

Alhamdulillah for the year that has passed. Bismillah for the year ahead. Ameen. 🤍🌙

And yes, perhaps I’m being a little bit of a traitor 🇬🇭😅 posting this photo from my visit to the Ghana Embassy in Bamako once upon a time, especially with Ghana and England meeting soon! ⚽️

Eid Mubarak 🌙🐏

May Allah Almighty help us to remember Him in all that we do, and give us the strength to sacrifice the things we love for the sake of Allah. This is the true message of Eid Al Adha. It’s not about clothes or gifts, but Allah wants our hearts.

May Allah guide us to move forward only on this new opportunity of another year, with faith, purpose, growth, and gratitude. May He help us to keep this mindset and remain steadfast on the right path. We give thanks to Him always for His mercy, love, and countless blessings.

There are moments in life where pain becomes purpose 💛

Amour Destiné was created in honour of my late mother, Aissata, who passed away in Mali when I was just 8 years old. Through every part of this journey, I carry her legacy with me.

This Dhul Hijjah, I’m raising funds as a Sadaqa Jariya to support women in Mali through entrepreneurship, financial independence, and sustainable opportunities 🇲🇱✨

I truly believe when women are empowered, entire communities change. What began as supporting migrant girls & women affected by abuse in the UK can also become hope and opportunity for women across Africa too.

“If in doubt sisters… you are her.” 💕

Today our Annual Report has been released and I hope you will feel as proud as I do when you read through the incredible work led by my brilliant team at @amourdestine.

My heart is so full of pride and gratitude. This work is not easy, but the women I get to lead alongside every day are truly special. Their compassion, courage, integrity, and commitment to our communities continue to inspire me deeply.

Together, we supported 106 women and indirectly impacted 128 children this year — but beyond the numbers are stories of healing, survival, dignity, and hope.

To every survivor who trusted us, every partner who walked beside us, and every supporter who believes in our mission: thank you💗

Today is Election Day 🗳️

Our ancestors endured so much for women to gain the equal right to vote. Today, we honour their sacrifice by using our voices and exercising our democratic right. Polling stations will be open until 10pm!

Whatever you do, don’t stay silent in the face of hatred, division, and racism. Be on the right side of history ✊🏾

It was a powerful and inspiring day in Sheffield Pioneering with my sisters Dipti Manani & Ursula Lindenberg with the Echo Partnership.

As the Echo project approaches its 3 year milestone, it was encouraging to see the tangible progress being made to embed survivor voice into systems, and to hear the shared ambition for a legacy that continues to influence practice beyond the life of the programme.

Having taken time over the past few months to focus on my health, I’m now returning with renewed clarity and purpose. I’m grateful to my SafeLives network for modelling what it means to lead with care—creating space for me to step back and re-engage at a pace that prioritised my health & wellbeing.

I also want to acknowledge those who continued to reach out, invite, and include me during this time even when I couldn’t show up. That kind of leadership—rooted in consistency, inclusion, and respect—matters 💛

I’m now officially back and open to strategic collaborations, speaking opportunities, and work that centres survivor leadership and drives systems change. Please feel free to reach out via email with any requests.
