Forgive me for being silent about all you’ve done for me”. - Tim Keller. A few months ago I got baptized, making a public declaration of a decision I made in my heart back in 2020. I’d be lying if I said my baptism day was all filled with joy. A big part of the day was filled with fear, doubt, and shame. But yesterday God led me to reflect on it not looking at myself but looking at Him. I tend to view my decision to live for Jesus wrought with my inconsistent devotion, the sin I’ve walked in, and it can all lead me to be silent and give God “passive” praise. My walk has been filled with going from being out loud about Jesus when I’m doing well in my walk to silent when I’m struggling. But I was reminded that my baptism both internal and public, while they signify my devotion to Jesus is only a shadow of His immense devotion to me. My walk for the past few years has been difficult to say the least but when I look at it not from my shame-filled and even prideful perspective, I see sanctification, growth, continued deliverance, and above all the great faithfulness and keeping power of Jesus. So everyday for every believer, no matter what your faith tank looks like, God is worthy of the praise that is due Him for saving you! My prayer for myself and everyone who calls Jesus Lord is that of Tim Keller’s that encouraged me this morning: that we would continue to be so wrecked by the grace of God that we forget all about ourselves and are constantly moved to extravagance, joyful, true (and public) praise and worship. by @annieblay

These hymns used to just be the slow songs I sang in church while I tried my best to not fall asleep. I rarely perked up enough to listen to the words. Little did I know that soon enough they would become the constant melodic reminders of the love, grace, and goodness of the same God who sat beside me in the pew, held me through birthing pains, and now meets me with peace and patience in the middle of a tantrum.

Today is my last day at Allure. The past three years have been more refining than I could’ve imagined. Behind all the stories, emails, commuting, and everything outward facing the Lord has been doing a work internally—humbling me, pruning me, disciplining me in love, and overall teaching me to depend on Him. He also allowed me to meet some really kind and talented people who made me laugh, grew me as a writer, and became friends beyond the office—and for that I’m so grateful! I’ve been meditating on Ephesians 2:10 this week which says that we are created in Christ Jesus for good works that God has prepared for us in advance—I’m grateful for the good work He enabled me to do at Allure, and I’m hopeful for the good work He will call me to next.
