Newport Beach is changing, and depending on who you ask, that’s either exciting or a little bittersweet.

With the Ritz-Carlton Residences coming, the expansion of Lido House, Pelican Hill transitioning to St. Regis, Levain Bakery coming to Fashion Island, and so many other new names and projects headed our way, there is definitely a new spotlight on our little coastal town.

I understand why some people don’t love it. Part of what makes Newport Beach so special is that despite being one of the most desirable places to live in the country, it has always managed to feel like a small town. I hope we never lose that.

At the same time, I think there is a lot to be excited about. These brands don’t choose Newport Beach by accident. The investment coming into our city brings tourism, tax revenue, better amenities and restaurants, and another level of attention to Newport Beach nationally and internationally.

There is a new energy and, dare I say, a little more chicness coming to town.

As a resident, I want us to protect what makes Newport Beach feel like Newport Beach. As a real estate agent, I also can’t ignore what this level of investment and attention can mean for our property values over time.
Change can be a little uncomfortable, but in this case, I think there is a lot of upside.
