I am not a writer, someday I'll take a class and will appreciate edits via DM for how to improve because I won't stop. Poetry is something I am drawn to every once in a while and began when I was 13 and wrote about the coyotes howling in our neighbors meadows. It took guts to share here. This is for my brother Geordie, I love you and will need you eternally.

Our phone call

closeness is washing over my home in delight
with each word exchanged I am made more whole than a moment before
how can something like a home
something that is established yours provide
that equal sense that it somehow felt foreign
realized only during the first "hello"

our time apart can feel unconsciously easy
the bond between two people can be this strong
if it is built carefully
we are lucky, we shared a womb
in creation a private world
building this bond without effort
forming our brains and hearts simultaneously

after a length of time
the distance between us can feel Loud
a bang interrupting the two separate spaces
a sforzando in our lives
only quiet again when we hang up
a note audible only for us

my friends are comparable bonds but
never to this degree of intense need,
only ever revealing a want

when we hang up I feel the difference
no one can be sure how often or when it will strike
now I'm drenched in relief for our connection
smile on my face, warmth in my body
like having the right air
being as comfortable as possible

the feeling building during our separation is never obvious missing a flavor or season
only becoming known when one of us
surrenders to that thunder

if I should allow to consider deeper
if we ever continued to stop listening
distracted by our everyday lives
would the lack of each other be strong enough
to will the world to pull us physically to a shared space
forcing us to hold onto how we started
a reminder, you are intended to be together

my twin picks up the phone quick
most times he is actively dialing me
the reverse has been true countless times taken in Salmon Falls, Maine by @anniedearest_

Spring work : two baby quilts which have now been finally gifted to two nieces by Grammy and Auntie. Distinctly different in design & approach. The first a tied pinwheel cascade with cream background, quilted border, and ties to compliment a beautiful & neutral nursery. The second a patchwork fully quilted country scene to play on with embroidered flowers, sweeping sky and (not pictured) a picture frame border. Thank you @clairefitts for doing this with me!! A joy in this life for sure. by @anniedearest_
