A little get to know me post 🎀

I live in a small village of Kilpisjärvi in the north of Finland and this is how my life looks like. Well a teeny tiny part of it.

I also want to say that even though life in the north might seem all pink and fluffy in the social media, it’s hardly ever the whole truth. Life is life no matter where you live. I’ve had my struggles here and still do. But overall I love it and couldn’t think living anywhere else 🩷

Asun pienessä Kilpisjärven kylässä pohjois-Suomessa ja tältä minun arki näyttää. Tai pienen pieni raapaisu arkeani.

Haluan myös sanoa, että vaikka elämä Lapissa saattaa joskus kuvien välityksellä vaikuttaa pelkältä ihanalta hattaralta, on todellisuus kuitenkin toisenlainen. Arki on kuitenkin arkea kaikkialla. Täälläkin asuessa on omat haasteensa, vaikkei niitä somessa jaettaisikaan. 6 years ago city life was making me stressed and I wanted something completely different. So I decided to leave to a remote northern village called Kilpisjärvi all by myself. There I fell in love with nature and met my soulmate. Soon we exchanged the city life to life in the middle of beautiful fell lapland. I have never felt more at home. I’m so grateful for having the courage to step into unknown 🩷

Elämä on ennalta-arvaamatonta. Koskaan ei tiedä, mihin se voi johdattaa. Minut se johdatti etelästä pohjoiseen, enkä voisi olla kiitollisempi. Pohjoiseen muutto on ollut enemmän kuin uskalsin edes toivoa.

Fun fact: kun lähdin ekaa kertaa Kilpikselle minulla ei ollut hajuakaan millainen paikka se olisi. Katsoin vain kartalta, että se on juuri sopivan kaukana. Kyllä kannatti 🥹🫶🏻 taken in Kilpisjärvi by @anniinavanamo

tiny vlog of our normal day off at home 🩷🎀

Today we did nothing special. Just cleaning, walking outdoors and relaxing at home.

I was drinking my morning coffee when I noticed something long awaited from our window. Pink colors in the sky! 🥹🎀

I skipped what was left of my coffee and hurried outside to take pictures of the snow-covered fells. The moment was quickly over but at least I got a glimpse of these beautiful early winter colors 🩷

This morning the air was only 3°C and the water felt freezing. I truly loved every second of my quick dopamine swim.

Autumn colors are long gone and there’s new kind of energy in the air. The village is getting quiet and I’m eagerly waiting for winter. The only thing missing today was that beautiful sight of snow covered fells 🥹❄️

Morning walk & ruska 🎀🤎🐻

This morning we hiked to Salmivaara to see the beautiful autumn colors (ruska) of Kilpisjärvi. The wind was really strong though. We will see how long do the arctic trees can hold on to their leaves.

Few days ago we went for a little ruskaretki (autumn colors trip) to the beach. It was so much fun. We had a fire, I went for a swim and we had some hot cocoa with whipped cream and homemade cookies. I don’t have any pictures (at least not good ones) from that time but it was just the perfect kind of cosy autumn day.

This autumn has been so beautiful with all the colors. Now I’m just waiting for that first snow covering the tops of the fells. Can’t think of a sight more breathtaking 🍂❄️

Yeti the birthday boy - 2 years with this little polar bear 🤎🎀🐻‍❄️

Life has been such chaos with Yeti. He definitely isn’t the easiest dog and so much has happened with him. Two emergency surgeries, struggles with calming down, walking in nature, eating forbidden stuff and reactivity. We have come a long way since last birthday and even though we still have some troubles, I’m beyond proud of our little hurricane.

Last year we couldn’t even walk in nature without Yeti eating stuff or without him going completely crazy. Now it’s almost history and even though some places and days are still hard, we can usually take long walks together. I’m so happy I could literally cry 🥹

Happy bithday to my dearest fluffy boy! 🥰

Autumn colors are here or ”ruska” as we say in Finland 🤎🐻🍂

Kesä on väistynyt syksyn tieltä ja värit ovat alkaneet valloittaa tunturimaisemaa. Sateista ja tuulista on ollut (kuten kesällä), mutta se ei menoa haittaa. Askel on kevyt, kun saa ihastella näitä lämpimän sävyisiä maisemia. Ihan jännittää, mihin tämä ruska kehkeytyy, kun jo näin aikaisin on näin kaunista 🥹

Nature is slowly getting ready for winter and leaves are changing their color from green to different warm shades 🤎🧸🕯️🍂

I just love this time of the year. I can’t wait for the peak of colors and the time of the first snow 🥹❄️

Cosy time by the fire 🎀🐻‍❄️🤎

We had a great mini holiday in the south with Yeti. We played by the beach, got muddy paws in a dog forest, had some cosy time by the fire, grilled marshmallows, went for a sauna, had a soothing morning swim, saw the prettiest sunrise, ate all of our favourite foods and bought some chanttarelles & strawberries from the marketplace.

The main reason for our trip was actually to go to a vet and also to have a training session with Yeti. We got slightly bad news from the vet (nothing too dramatic but still unfortunate) but luckily the training went surprisingly well. I was beyond proud of my little boy 🥹🩷

I will always be the girl who wakes up early to see this kind of nature’s beauty 🫶🏻

What a precious moment we had this morning. The sunrise was so beautiful by the seaside and a big group of birds flew right over us. Even Yeti was watching closely.

These forest walks just heal something in me 🤎

I love the fells with all my heart but I also love the forest, so it’s great that you can enjoy that fairytale-like forest nature after driving only 50km to Norway 🌙🦋

Autumn always makes me feel so cosy. Can I already say it’s autumn? 😂 Well at least it feels like autumn with all the rain and wind here.

Anyway, I can’t wait for the autumn colors (ruska), cold swims and cosying up by our fireplace. Yeti has already collected us plenty of firewood. He brings a new stick home almost every morning. It’s so cute 🐻‍❄️🩷 taken in Northern Norway by @anniinavanamo
