Finally posting my own birthday nails 💅

I always struggle with deciding what to paint for myself, but then I realized this was the perfect opportunity to try the fabulous forget-me-not layering mani by @poone_nailbeauty that I had immediately saved as inspo

It also timed perfectly with this lovely forget-me-not ring element that @vinczemarti made for me, knowing it's my favorite flower 🥰 it somehow managed to arrive ON my birthday! Thank you again, I absolutely adore it, and it went so perfectly with this mani 🥹

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who painted a mani for me or reached out to wish me happy birthday 💙 I really appreciate every single one of you, and you truly made my day feel so special. I've been going through some stressful stuff that's really taken a toll on me mentally, so experiencing this outpouring of love has been extra touching and a much needed reminder that I'm surrounded by so many wonderful people 🥹 From the bottom of my heart, thank you

And of course a big shoutout to all my friends who hosted the birthday collab @chroniclesofapolishedpoet @lacquered_threads @cascadia_nails and @numerousbeesnails 🫶 I love you all!

For this mani I used

@mooncat Sinking Feeling, Into the Abyss, Sabertooth
@crackedpolish Carbon Copy, Instant Mood Booster

AND @fireflylacquer Understory (kindly gifted) for that perfect nude base & @holyorderofperpetuallacquer Occultism over everything for some extra birthday sparkle

Generative AI is a scourge and you can not convince me otherwise.

I've really had a hard time dealing with the fact that the people in power keep destroying our beautiful planet in any way they can. It's heartbreaking and disheartening

I painted a gradual change from lush nature to a desolate wasteland after the data center used up all the nearby water

June might be over, but we're not going anywhere 🌈

I painted this for the #MonthlyFreehandMani but it's also a very personal mani for me. This celebrates the life and love of Tove Jansson, one of my favorite artists and authors and the creator of The Moomins. She was an openly queer woman in a time when it was largely not accepted.

"Homosexuality was illegal in Finland until 1971, and yet, Tove and Tuulikki openly lived together since the 1950s. They were the first couple of the same gender to attend the Independence Day reception at the Presidential Palace in Finland in 1992."

I painted the character Too-Ticky from the Moomins, who was based on the love of her life, Tuulikki Pietilä. They were together for almost 50 years until Tove's death in 2001.

Every other slide in this carousel is a picture of Tove and Tuulikki with a quotes from their letters (except for slide 8, which is Tove's quote from when she first fell in love with another woman)

Thank you so much @pawprintnails for hosting another great round!

Halloween anniversary nails!

I always struggle with what to commit to wearing on our wedding anniversary, but this year it was kind of easy. I roped my husband into doing a cute little ghost photoshoot with me the day of, and wanted something dark that would contrast the white sheet. As you may have noticed from my October stories, we also do a Month of Horror throughout the month where we watch a horror movie neither of us has seen every single day.

So when my eyes happened upon @geekybeesnails What's Your Favorite Scary Movie? it was immediately settled! 🖤❤️ It felt like the perfect way to celebrate our Halloween-iversary (thank you @chroniclesofapolishedpoet 😂) and our horror movie loving hearts. Also posting a day late because yesterday was for celebrating 😊

I sprinkled some non-nail ghost pictures towards the end 👻

I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween! 🎃

... bad dreams, Darlings.

As soon as I saw this HOoPL polish and simultaneously learned about Vampira AND that she is of Finnish descent, I knew I'd need some themed nail art for spooky season

So here is my Devil's Night offering. Happy almost-Halloween!

It's #copycatcollab time!

This round was a free-for-all so we got to pick who we wanted to recreate a Halloween-y look for. I saw this super cute spooky print by @megans_manicures (last slide) and immediately needed to recreate it!

I switched the base polish because this was the perfect excuse to wear @tylerstrinketsny Pumpkins Need Candy Too 🎃🍬

Let's rip each other to pieces 👄

I was workshopping a mani idea and ended up liking this so you all get to see it too! Indoor artificial light for these picture because I painted in the middle of the night

Base is @tychelacquer Let's Rip Each Other To Pieces from their Vital Instruments collection

Spooky bakery! 💀

I am awfully late in posting this, but fortunately it's very spooky season-appropriate.

This last round of #TheDarkSideManiCollab we dove into gothic bakeries! I drew inspiration from some spooky gingerbread I made last October, and imagined a skelly baker to go with them!

Thank you so much SJ @numerousbeesnails & Jess @moon_atomics_nails for hosting

For this month's #StarWarsManiCollab we explored women of Star Wars!

I had the hardest time deciding who to feature, and ended up picking someone cool.... and someone funny (swipe to slide 2 for a reveal of everyone's favorite singer 🤭)

For Ventress, I included her post-Dark Side yellow lightsaber because her story is so much more than the Sith

Happy birthday Asta @shreddedcuticles 🥳

Sweetest Asta 💙 You're one of those people who friendship has always felt effortless and immediately comfortable with, and for me that is a rare thing. I appreciate you endlessly and love seeing your creativity gracing my feed. I hope you have the best birthday and feel all the love this community has for you and your uplifting presence

For your birthday, I've had this inspo picture saved of a painting you shared since... June I think (added as the last slide)! And I wanted to pair it with something sparkly and oceanic (@monarchlacquer Culture Shock was perfect ✨️) because of your love for the ocean. I changed the birds to bats for spooky season though 🦇

Thank you so much

Happy birthday Martina @lacquered_threads 🥳

My sweet, sweet friend. You're so kind and endlessly talented and creative, and always so humble. You mean so much to so many people here, a fact incredibly clear every time people come together to celebrate you. Thank you for being you, and for lending me a shoulder to cry on when things have been hard 💙 Love you bb

I couldn't resist celebrating you by recreating one of your iconic fall sceneries, for maximum cozy feels. (I also included my failed thumb, I tried to paint Haggis in a pumpkin but he ended up looking more like a muppet or a dog 😂 AND he turned purple)

I hope you have the best birthday and feel loved and celebrated like you deserve 🥰

Thank you so much everyone who came together to make #MartinasNotSoDesolateBday happen, and especially to my incredible cohost Ivana @feisty_fingers 🫶 wouldn't have been possible without you
