The process of conceptualizing began with Jamie Grey’s beautiful music. When I first heard “Here Now”, it was simply perfect because it said everything that I needed to say to all the important people in my life. So this is for everyone that I love, and everyone who has been an important part of me at points in my life. I hope my sincerity reaches out to you through one of the best ways I know how to show it.

Over a month of ideating and creating, put together in just 2 rehearsals, and filmed in 4 hours. This was a crazy tight timeline compared to my first project, so I questioned if it was even possible. A huge thank you to my friends for showing up for me time and time again, believing and trusting in my vision and direction, and for greatly supporting the creative process. I appreciate you guys with all my heart, always love dancing with yall♥️

Thank you Shafiee for being down to work together again, for all your expertise, valuable insights, patience, and of course for working all your magic to bring my vision alive yet again!!🌟

Growing Pains
“you wanna be a dreamer?”
“there’s no gain without the pain.”
“everything gon be okay, it won’t always be this way.”

this is for everyone out there who has felt too defeated by your failures while chasing your dreams, blinded by your thoughts of how difficult it is to achieve your goals, and whether you’re “good enough” or if you’re “wasting your time”, failing to realize that only with our failures do we learn to have faith and grow. By having a dream in the first place, you’re already one step closer to reaching it, so why not keep going? The pain won’t last forever, and you’re not alone, with the support of the people around you and your faith, someday you’ll get there :) “everything gon be okay”, “cuz sometimes faith has growing pains”♥️

I started this passion project with the simple desire of creating something of my own with like-minded dancers, as it’s always been one of my biggest dance goals to do so, but i’ve never had the platform, opportunity or connections to even share my choreography, let alone make a dance film/video project,,,but when it was confirmed that i’m going to the states for uni, i figured that if i didn’t take the chance to challenge myself to make my vision come alive, i may not get the chance to for a long while, hence the decision to just jump right in with little to no experience, just the desire to create♥️

first selection!!🌟beyond grateful and excited that Growing Pains directed and choreographed by me, filmed and edited by @shaf_heartz , got selected to be screened for @screendancefestival ‘s international selection🌏 @dansmuseet in Stockholm! 🎬
i embarked on this project around a year ago with only the desire to create something with friends, and so i didn’t really have any expectations when i decided to submit it for film festivals especially since this was my very first time choreographing and directing a dance film.
super thankful for everybody who made this project possible and for those who’s been so supportive throughout, here’s to creating more in the future!🧠

last weekend I got the chance to stage “Here Now” at Infinity’s showcase!💡

an incredibly special full-circle moment, to have two versions of “Here Now”, one with friends from home, and one with friends from laffy♥️ really grateful for this opportunity, and I have so so much love for everyone who has been a part of this little multiverse :) if you know how much this means to me you know. by @annjo.o
