The air hums.
The lights flicker.
Magic gathers in the corners.

Sip signature cocktails crafted for the brave and the bewitched. Graze lavishly. Wander freely. Around every turn, you’ll find a flash of performance — a song rising out of nowhere, a monologue whispered into the dark, a body in motion, a moment that only exists once.
Our raffle and silent auction overflow with treasures from beloved Los Angeles artisans and bold supporters of The Nest — art, experiences, indulgences, and the unexpected. Bid generously. Tempt fate.
The DJ spins all night, keeping the pulse alive while you explore, inspire live poetry into existence, and perhaps mark the evening permanently with a tiny tattoo — because some nights are meant to stay with you.
Want to slip deeper into the magic?
VIP guests are invited into an intimate pre-show world of parlor magic and slow-burn burlesque — a secret gathering before the doors fully open.
Come dressed to enchant.
Come ready to toast the future.
Come make a little beautiful noise.

Happy birthday to the woman who’s been alive for at least as long as I’ve been alive.
Not pictured: me projectile vomiting on her, me screaming at her, me locking myself in the bathroom and her sitting just outside the door waiting for me to come out. Her talking need down from 100000 panic attacks on the side of the road/highway/grocery store/school/go-carting track. Her talking me off of metaphorical ledges and real 12 story buildings in Mexico. Her holding my hand on top of the castle in Scotland.

She’s not a good mother because of all the things “good mothers “ do or because she birthed me. She’s a great mother because I exist, because I’m somehow still alive. Because of who I have become, and who I have yet to be. she gave me the tools to cope and grow… and the permission I needed to seek my own help beyond her capacity. Even if that means stealing a bottle of Sherry from a restaurant and drinking it together on the shoulder of the 101. she’s the reason I am a great friend and the reason I will be an amazing mother.

In 1931 in Kiel, Germany, Rachel Posner, the wife of a rabbi, took this picture.

On the back of the photograph she wrote:

“‘Death to Judah,’ so the flag says.

‘Judah lives forever,’ so the light answers.”

The light will continue to answer the darkness. Happy Hanukkah. taken in Bondi Beach, Sydney by @anoisybird

[Bird]
I love all of the edges of this woman. She is art. And art is lucky to have her.
