Lloyd Center Celebration of Life Bike Funeral Procession + Skate.
August 8, 2026
1PM, Holladay Park, 3 miles, family-friendly pace
Bring your lloyd eulogies to celebrate Portland’s iconic 1960s mall. It was first mall in the world to have an ice skating rink.

Put on your best funeral outfit (or Tonya Harding costume) and ride in a bike funeral @pedalpaloozapdx procession looping through some of the funnest parking structures that have seen many bike rides over the years.

We’ll end with a skating exhibition and optional jam skate on the final day of the @lcicerink . All day skating at @lcicerink $20 including skate rentals.

Every day I host Weekend Edition on @opbphoto I do a little 5am dance before I get on the microphone. Here is 1 second of every dance this year. It’s been a hard year to be in the news (especially public media) business but a little bit of dancing reminds me that we can take care of ourselves, too. Spot my @opbkmhdcreators union shirt and my time broadcasting from Baker City @kbzr_radio to a new year full of dancing and better news! #opb #2025recap #danceeveryday #npr #weekendedition taken in Oregon Public Broadcasting by @anomalily

I’ll do a trend weeks late.

Text: Hi. I’m Lillian.

I am a Financial journalist and public radio host in Portland, Oregon.

I specialize in finding the fun in dense topics. My first book was cats explaining purrsonal finance.

I started figure skating in 2019 for fun (instead of competition) after 16 years off.

I live with my spouse and two kittens named Mačka and Kugel.

I ride my bike to work at 4:30am and haven’t driven a car in 16 years.

I am trying to take public transit in every country in the world.

I never turn down an opportunity for a themed outfit.

I have dual US/Croatian citizenship. taken in Portland, Oregon by @anomalily

Sunday, August 16!!!

1. Please get the @ridewithgps route - they have given free turn-by-turn voice navigation for that route (thank you RWGPS friends). That route has all the Plaid Pantries, the checkpoints, and public restrooms marked. There is a Strava route, but it doesn't have as much info so we recommend the RWGPS route.

There are arrows painted for some tricky turns but not all. You still need the route to navigate.

You aren't required to track your ride on RWGPS or Strava but if you do, you can participate in a cool data art piece at the end!

2. Control Stores
These are the 6 required checkpoints for a full century to "count." Get a receipt at each of these stores as your timestamp. Please be nice to the @plaidpantryofficial employees because they already have a hard enough job before 250 sweaty people come through and demand paper receipts.

If you tell the clerks that you're with the ride, they should let you refill water bottles (with water) from the fountain.

Mile 0 | First Plaid! SE 30th and Belmont
Mile 10 | Top of first hill - Skyline Blvd
 Mile 41 | SE Holgate & 104th
Mile 59 | NE Columbia & 60th
 Mile 78 | N Lombard & St Louis
 Mile 100 | Last Plaid! NE Glisan & 67th
If you did it out of order, be prepared to explain it easily because I will be tired and don't want to do math.

**Relay riders**: You still need one(1) receipt from each control store, but you can switch off any of the 53 plaid pantries. Just take a side-by-side selfie at that Plaid with both riders when you swap.

3. Timing
You can start anytime after 12:01AM (midnight) but know there are two detours if you start in the wee hours - Washington Park until 5AM, Riverview Cemetery until 8AM.

4. IF you post on instagram please tag @plaidpantrypdx100 and @plaidpantryofficial

5. Prizes. The awards ceremony is at 7:00PM at Laurelhurst Park, Picnic Area B (near SE 35th & Oak). There are no winners or losers but there are special prizes for:
- Best Team Spirit
- Receipt that Makes Us Most Concerned for Your Health
- Best Dressed
- Most Unique Vehicle
- Most Calories Consumed (across all receipts)
- Taking the Third Shift (longest total time)
- What the Hell? (tbd category) taken in Plaid Pantry by @anomalily

Saturday, August 1 is the fourth annual stationery store day ride! It’s a great way to support local small businesses, ride through six different quadrants and chat with other pen and paper nerds! We meet at 12:30 PM at @paperepiphanies and then after some shopping at 1:15PM, ride at a gentle pace to @ecrumodernstationer. We then head downtown to @oblationpapers (where sometimes we get to try out the letterpress!). After we head up north to @pdxrockpaperscissor where Kevin always has some fun goodie for us while we stock up on the best gayest card selection in town. This year we’re adding another 2 miles to @reggiespdx in Kenton, the only stationery store run by a dog. At the end we have a stationery swap and have some beverages, this time at Reggie’s. Total ride is about 12 miles, gentle pace, bring a lock for stops! taken in Portland, Oregon by @anomalily

Do you love the smell of fresh stationery in the morning? Are you refreshing the hobonichi website looking for 2027 planners? Do you like riding bikes?

Why not ride and look at Beautiful Stationery! 📝🖋️✒️🖊️ Saturday, August 1st is about appreciating your local stationery stores for @stationerystoreday and for the fourth year in a row we're doing it again! Meet at @paperepiphanies at 12:30PM and we’ll ride to local stationery stores. Bring a lock for stationary stationery stops (see what I did there?)

Meet other papyrophiliac folks (lovers of paper) on a casual ride around Portland to visit different small stationery shops- over the 12-mile ride we will go to @paperepiphanies @ecrumodernstationer (south waterfront) @oblationpapers and @pdxrockpaperscissor and new addition @reggiespdx.

There are little passports to fill out and if you are ambitious and want to bike up a hill you can hit @papercaperlo and @village_cheer and/or the PDX airport PIPH before the ride to get extra stamps in your passport.

After we pet the pretty paper and pens, we’ll end at a location with plenty of tables and room (and food, vegan and GF options) to test our new wares. Bring stationery items you’d like to swap or show off.

If you are planning to come, comment below, so we can plan accordingly.

An extremely silly bike ride idea I had: “I will die on this hill”. About 20 of us rode up a Rocky Butte, a big hill, and gave 90 second speeches about our favorite inconsequential stances. Here are clips from the winners plus one bonus rant- I’m sorry I am didn’t tag folks because I can’t remember any instagram handles . #pedalpaloozapdx #pedalpalooza #portlandoregon taken in Joseph Wood Hill Park - Rocky Butte by @anomalily
