The lighting project for Voce @triennalemilano is the result of a year-long design process.
It was conceived as an open system, offering endless possibilities of control and adaptability for different uses of the space.
A system that appears simple and geometric, yet is grounded in highly specific concepts—developed through years of research into spatial perception in relation to light, the study of color schemes and perspective gradients, and the interplay between light and darkness, creating sharp contrasts that transform the reading of architecture, as well as the deep connection between sound and movement.

Here we present a portion of our design vision, with particular focus on chromatic studies related to depth and movement.

We’re thrilled to announce that Voce @triennalemilano is now officially open!

Voce is a truly innovative space designed for immersive listening. At its heart is a soundwall by @giorgiodisalvo , supported by eight satellite speakers placed throughout the room. The acoustics were meticulously engineered by Lucio Visintini of @concreteacoustics to create a dynamic, responsive sound environment.

We had the honor of designing the lighting system for this unique space. Huge thanks to @lucacipelletti for involving us in a project that pushed us to explore new technological and conceptual boundaries in architectural lighting and spatial perception.

The brief: develop a lighting system flexible enough to support a wide range of activities while integrating seamlessly with the historic architecture of Giovanni Muzio.

Our solution was to create a matrix of digital LED profiles that trace the ceiling’s geometry—15,000 pixel-to-pixel RGBW light points, each individually controllable in intensity and color. This setup allows light to respond to sound and space in real time, opening up infinite creative possibilities.

We aimed for a light that feels present and alive, but physically invisible—a perceptual experience rather than a visual one. What appears simple hides a high level of complexity in both design and management.

Thanks to @stscommunication for the crucial technical support and for developing a custom electronic circuit—currently in the patenting process—to expand the system’s signal range.

Special thanks to Antonio Nicoletti of @n.btw.n for developing technically the control software, making it easy to configure live and fully harness the project’s potential.

The lighting design for Vacuum has been conceived starting from emptying completely the space, creating a box that gradually passes from dark to
clear finishes enhancing contrast with light fixtures while at the same time creating the conditions for light diffusion and color mixing.

The three-dimensional LED matrix of the ceiling has been arranged on multiple layers that combined with movement gives depth both in height and horizontal perspective.

The possibility to use multiple chromatic combinations opens up different scenarios showing the space form different points of view each time.

The idea behind the concept comes from a specific optical effect given by the use of red, green and blue lights that once combined give a resultant of white light for the additive synthesis property of primary colors.

This beautiful post-industrial architecture has been the setting for one of our latest installations. Happy we worked together with the much talented sound artist @heith___ in developing one more of our parallel spaces where shapes, sounds and motions follow their own rules, far away from the expected reality.

PLĀS-tic Fantastic, custom made lamp realized for the exhibition “Deconstruct to Reconstruct”, by Plās Collective at Fondazione Sozzani, Milan, May 2024

The light sculpture was created as our interpretation of the yarns from which the Plās collection is made, specifically recycled nylon yarn, using it to create a 3-meter-high three-dimensional diffuser integrated into the architectural space. taken in Fondazione Sozzani by @anonima.luci

the project consists of a large-scale light projection on the floor of the Dario Fo and Franca Rame court, Pesaro.

the project was presented on a small scale, making a prototype that, with a system of optics, projects the gradual chromatic transition from circle to ellipse, on a scale of 1:20

“555nm” site specific installation for C2C Festival 2023

It is always incredible for us to see how people react and interact with our installations. In a completely natural way people were getting themselves comfortable and relaxing, like hypnotised by this strange and alive presence, where time seemed to stop.
