This Hospice Care Week, we're thinking about the importance of having conversations about death, dying, grief and loss.

They're conversations many of us avoid.

But talking about death doesn't make it more frightening. Sometimes, talking can help us feel less alone, understand what support is available and give us space to think about what matters to us and the people we love.

That's at the heart of Another Goodbye.

The performance creates a space to explore grief through theatre and every performance is followed by a conversation with local hospice staff.

At Compton, we know how important honest conversations about death, dying and grief can be. 💛 That’s why we’re pleased to be joining @wolverhamptonartscentre for a special performance of @anothergoodbyeplay on Tuesday 13 October.

Inspired by Adie Mueller’s experience of losing her mother, the performance explores love, loss, memory, end-of-life care and the goodbyes that stay with us.

Following the show, members of our team will take part in a conversation exploring the themes raised and the different ways we experience and understand grief.

When Adie’s mum chose to stop medical treatment, Adie promised she would travel to Germany to visit her regularly. Then the pandemic arrived, making that promise impossible to keep.

Another Goodbye is a moving and compassionate theatre performance exploring love, loss and saying goodbye, and the difficult questions we face when someone we cannot imagine living without is no longer there.

Following the performance at WAC, @compton_care will join us for a conversation about death, dying and grief, offering a welcoming space to reflect, listen and, if you wish, join the discussion.

Movement 1: the seven months leading up to Mum's death

Movement 2: the day of her death

Movement 3: the fifteen days after her death

Movement 4: six months after her death

“We don’t know whether this will be the last time we’ll see each other…”

When Adie Mueller’s mum decided it was time to stop her medical treatment, Adie promised herself she would travel to Germany to visit her regularly.

Then the pandemic happened.

Another Goodbye is a deeply personal yet universal exploration of what it means to lose someone we cannot imagine living without.

Through intimate storytelling, movement, sound and striking visual imagery, Adie reflects on love, grief, letting go and the questions we face when confronted with death.

Gentle, honest and quietly uplifting, the performance creates a space to consider our own experiences of loss and remembrance, while opening up conversations about death and dying.

🎭 The 55-minute performance is followed by a 45–60 minute conversation with staff from local hospices, offering audiences the opportunity to continue the discussion in a welcoming and supportive environment.
