AcrossAndes 2023 - I didn't know what to expect, and maybe that was good 😂
Never have I ridden in so much rain. Happy for the last minute panic purchases of an extra rain jacket and waterproof pants. Not to forget the dishwasher gloves and plastic bags I had on everyday!!

However, despite the rain, Patagonia is a beautiful place and the rain kind of added to the already challenging course. Mountains are everywhere, and I felt that if you for any second wanted to take your mind off the actual effort you only had to look at the surroundings 🏔️🏞️

I came for the adventure, for the love of riding my bike and I got that and much more.
Even if ultras are self-supported you never really have the feeling of being alone out there. You meet people along the way, you get passed and you pass some. You often end up stopping at the same places, be it for heating up (drying up in this case😅) or just to eat and sleep... (if you're into that sleeping thing 😆).

During night-time riding people ask if I don't feel frightened alone, but even if the only thing I can see is that little circle of light in front of me I don't feel worried. I think if your mind is calm your body is too.

I do feel for all the people who didn't complete the race for one or another reason, but it also takes courage to scratch and the most important thing is to show up!! Even if you had planned the course well you can't really tell how it will play out until you're out there, and the weather really wasn't in our favour 🌧️🌧️🌧️(at all)!!

Thank you @acrossandes and Patagonia it's been a great adventure !!
And on my last day of the race the sun ☀️ finally made an appearance 🥳🥳🥳. A great way to end it!

Thank you my friend @aenederrese for inviting me to stay with you and your lovely friends prior to the course. For me it shows what the ultra cycling community is all about ♥️🤗

To finish with a very unexpected 3rd place in the solo female category was definitely an added plus, still can't quite believe it !!! 🥉🥳

Now I am off to explore more of this beautiful place 🇨🇱 🚵‍♀️🏔️🌭🏞️

Did I mention it has not rained a single drop since the race ended 😂😂🤨

second part of the last stage took us up to the highest point of le pilgrimage; colle del sommeiller, a 26km climb from bardonecchia up to the summit at 3000 metres (the day after we left, they got snow up there!!).

after the last checkpoint, the journey back to hotel saint roch started. a mix of gravel, rain, sun, climbs and wind made me quite slow, and i made it just in time for dinner 🤣 luckily, it's not a race!

what a lovely place to call home this is.

thank you guys for making this such a great event, the routes, the food, the hospitality and everything in between ❤️

now some time to rest the back for a bit 😅

Last stage of Le Pilgrimage was 220k and around 6000m of ascent, luckily split into two days 😅
I am not sure if the 50meters of hike a bike section during the first stage was accurate, must have been closer to 3k !! it was beautiful though and who doesn't love to hike anyways. by the time we reached italy the hunger was unreal, we had some pasta and after a gravel descent that had around a million swichbacks it was already dark by the time we reached bardonecchia. but... did manage to find a pizza to eat 😁

Today took us up to Fort Janus at 2,500m, with 16.5km of climbing on old military roads.

A long way up, but definitely worth it for the views. The pancakes waiting at the top and the bakery at the start in Briançon definitely helped. 😁

On the way back to base camp, we passed Pont d’Asfeld, this part of France is very pretty 😍

Day 2 done ✔️

In 2024, during a cycling event, I met a guy who was running another cycling event in Puy-Saint-Vincent. Since that encounter, it’s been on my mind.

This year was the year to finally do it, because if you wait long enough, things never happen.

Le Pilgrimage is not a race; it’s a bikepacking adventure where we all return to the same place every evening to share meals and stories from the road. Quite nice knowing that a warm bed and a good meal are waiting for you at the end of a long ride for a change 😅

The routes are spectacular, and so is the food!!!

I’m a bit sore, but excited for the remaining days 🤣😁

another week in the mountains with great people, and one step closer to becoming a scandinavian mountain guide. 🏔️

the more time I spend in the mountains, the more I want to stay longer. now it’s time to build up the days, gain experience, and keep training to become a certified mountain guide.

but first, a little bit of cycling, well overdue🚴‍♂️

is there anything nicer than strip off your clothes, take a morning dip in a lake that seems to be there just for you.
then put on the same clothes as yesterday, (exept perhaps a fresh pair of underwear), pour yourself a cup of "freshly made" instant coffee, and watch the world wake up, mostly birds.

While drinking your coffee, you decide on what route to take today.

Wow. What a weekend 💙💛

What I love about cycling, and maybe gravel even more, is the people and the community!

I've found the same at ultra events, but not everything has to be a race. In the end, it's the people you remember the most.

Last weekend was just that.

It had everything we had hoped for. Sunshine (30-ish degrees!!), lake swims, good food (we cooked, so I may be biased 🤣) and a great place to come back to.

But the people made the weekend. Different backgrounds, ages, cycling experience.. None of that really matters when you share the same love of riding.

For us this was a first hosting an event. We're so grateful that 10 people from all corners of Sweden trusted two people they'd never met.

Thank you for making our first gravel escape one we will never forget. 💙

We'll be back 😁🚴🏼‍♀️🚴‍♂️ taken in Dalsland by @ansippi

It's strange to imagine my life without a bike these days. Cycling has taken me to places I never would have seen if not on a bike and introduced me to people I never would have met (if not on a bike😅)

Definitely given me some of my favourite memories.
