Well done Anthem Voices for a cracker of a rehearsal! You smashed it! Choreography, intricate harmonies and full blown energy. That last run you gave me 110% and I am thrilled with the level of work you’re creating in that rehearsal room. PROUD MD HERE!!! 🎉🎉🎉

STICK IT UP YOUR WHAT SORRY? 👀😂

Love me a warm up that creates a giggle! As this one gets faster - the energy builds and the chaos ensues! Just bloody brilliant! Perfect for creating a fun energy in the room & getting your mouth around the words whilst flexing that vocal range.

You’re welcome 😂🙌🎶

“Oompah, stick it up your jumper
Stick it up your oompah
Stick it up your jumper…”

Etc etc 🤪🤪🤪

HOW I CHOOSE SONGS FOR MY CHOIR 🎶

This is a biggie. One of the most important parts of running a choir is choosing the repertoire right? It’s a part of my job that I take super seriously but also that brings me a LOT of joy! 🤩

So here are my top tips!

1️⃣ YOU know what’s best for you and your choir - don’t let the outside noise influence you or make you doubt yourself!

2️⃣ Narrow down your genres - find styles of music that works for your ensemble!

3️⃣ Balance the trickier songs with the slightly more relaxed numbers! That way you keep the excitement & the challenge in rehearsal but have an easy win to hand if you need it.

VOCAL CIRCLES ARE BACK IN BUSINESS! 🙌⭕️

Yep… they’re back! 🤩

I’ve been doing this more and more recently and I genuinely feel like the choir get SO much more connection - both spiritually and vocally when they’re engaging directly with each other 🎶

I split the choir into their three vocal groups and asked them to perform INTO the circle rather than out towards me. It creates such a different energy in the room! ✨

We started with a warm-up - the brilliant ‘To Stop The Train’ 🚂 An oldie but a goodie! It’s been a while since we’ve done this one, but when I spotted @isingsiliconvalley doing it in circles, I was SOLD! 🙌

Then we moved onto our new piece ‘Joy’ & let me tell you… not even the arm-ography could throw this lot off! 😂💪 They were focused, engaged and giving passion, energy and enthusiasm in abundance! 🔥

🎶✨ MIC DROP MOMENT ✨🎶

Great job, Anthem Voices! You absolutely smashed it. See you next week! 👋

WHY ARE WE SUCH CREATURES OF HABIT? 🫣👀🫠😂

I walked in and thought NO. Tonight we are changing it up! Shifting the seats to face another way. I’m going to position myself in a new spot. HOW WILL I COPE. Will the gang like it? Will it send us all into a confused oblivion? 😵‍💫

The answer is: no 😂

If anything, I really found it helped lift the energy in the room from the get go! 💪🔥

Do you do this at your choir rehearsal?

Choir gang - how did you like the new seating position? Did it feel good to be sat in a different spot? 🪑

Let me know your thoughts below! ⬇️

Wow. This one is a moment right? 💥

Thanks to @emsnissen for creating something so magical. We stuck to the 3 parts for this rendition but my gosh didn’t it create such a SOUND? 🎤🥵🤯🔥

A fab way to get stuck into harmony work before taking on the rest of our rep!

CHOIR MEMBERS! Which vocal part was your fave? That top line got me in a chokehold 💪🥰

THURSDAY NIGHTS ARE… 🎶🎶🎶

Sometimes it’s drilling harmonies. Sometimes it’s working the dynamics. Sometimes it’s singing the same phrase over and over until we get it right…

Sometimes it’s this and sometimes it’s that.

But one things for sure, it’s ALWAYS a good time at Anthem Voices! 🙏

Big love to our choir gang tonight who worked their socks off with two of our newest pieces. Both songs have quite tricky melodies & harmonies and everyone did SO well. This Christmas concert is shaping up to be our best one yet! 🎄🎉
