February by Nowhere Girls out now on all platforms 🗣️🎶🐈‍⬛🏆🙋 It’s finally here!! Yippy ! I come to you w a scrambled mind, at a loss for words and consumed by emotions brand new to me.. All this and yet, I will do what I do best, and talk way too much . (I used to get in trouble in school for this, figures..) February is the product of following @jbrekkie ‘s footsteps: producing a record based around the surmounting of unfinished-song-syndrome, presenting a song for each week of February, as Michelle did with each day of June. These songs are not perfect, they are closer to demos than anything, and I think they’re better for it. Endless endless thank yous to @jbrekkie , as well as @guidedbyvoicesofficial @krecs and @ko ‘s “Crush Songs” for the courage to believe in releasing a project as fragile, intimate, and brazenly bare as this. Thanks to their sonic guidance, this is the sound I stand behind too. In the wise words of my sage mentor thru time n sound, “Punk rock should mean freedom, liking and accepting anything that you like. Playing whatever you want. As sloppy as you want. As long as it’s good and it has passion.” Thank you Kurdt, truly, for all the doors you’ve opened for us all. With that said, I thought itd be fun to make this post in celebration of my biggest sonic inspirations, those who’ve shaped my sound, and who I wear bleeding on my sleeve. These photos are some of my biggest heroes ^^^^ Alongside this, id like to thank each and every one of you who give a shit about Nowhere Girls; this project would be a call into the void (which, would still be valid in its own way to be entirely truthful) if not for you all. Your sweet sweet words/acts of kindness, praise, love, care, warmth, etc does not go unappreciated: it truly means so much to me and both reaffirms and fulfills me. Thank you, so fucking much, I could never put my gratitude into words that capture its sincerity. Well friends, the time is finally here: “February”, a tape/EP? by Nowhere Girls, releases on all yr favorite streaming services this Friday, March 22nd. I know many of you have been waiting patiently for any semblance of Nowhere Girls noise. Maybe you’ve heard a demo, an old song, maybe you’ve heard nothing at all. Thank you so much for yr care and interest !! Well at last, you all can finally say you’ve heard a piece of the real n true Nowhere Girls sound. Please feed it to yr hungry insatiable consumption-corrupted hearts. It’s.. well it’s fine. Just fine, even. But I think you’ll readily find something you enjoy here For context and a setting of the stage, “February” exists as a challenge to myself, an exercise in actually finishing something for once. At a blinding breakneck speed (read; arduously and irresponsibly pushed off & completed in the final days of the month) of 1 song per week in February, these songs are not perfect. Nor are they meant to be. February is modeled after (and a loving ode to) the tape “June” by Japanese Breakfast, one wherein she brilliantly presents one song for each and every day of the month of June, an exercise in finishing ideas, and practicing self-forgiveness. Inspired both by Michelle Zauner’s tenacity, and my own inability to see a single song idea to completion, I cast aside my inhibitions and insecurities (in easy mode, 1 song a week vs 1 a day is admittedly quite the difference) w this record. I hope u all enjoy !! Much more to come, I continue to write & record nearly every day. Lets see what happens next ! Thank you’s & the like in the release day post Friday..
